First off there is no problem with the engine!!!. It runs beautifully. My question is rpm sweet spot and limit . I am running it on my Spectra with a 7.07 ratio. Usually I run it at 1700 which I believe gives me 12019 engine rpms. Lately I have been running 1800 headspeed which gives me 12726 rpms. I like it alot. For this sized engine am I at about the rpm limit? Or could I conceivably go higher to 1900 HS at 13433 rpms? I am running the RJX muffler.

Setup is everything, All my heli's can fly far better than I can pilot them

I think you should call Al at Hanson or email him. I know that the manual for the stock G290RC says the max power is at 13000 RPM. I don't know if the PUH is different. I don't see a stock 290PUH on the Zenoah website. I believe that Hanson mod allows you to go up to 14000 but best to check with Al.

perhaps others with more experience will chime in.

You need to find the sweet spot for your heli, engine and style of flying. If the carb is adjusted correctly, running them faster will not hurt the engine. The limit seems to be mid 13,000's on a 290s, I have not seen one in any heli form make more power if it is reved higher.

So try 1900 HS and see what it does.

Thanks guys for the replies. I believe there is no such thing as a stock Zenoah puh 29cc,,it was Al's at Hansons creation! Good idea I will get in touch with Al and ask him and I will also bump it up to 1850 - 1875 and see what happens. It does feel great at 1800,,and I hear if you go FBL it gives you abit more power. My big worry is if the big bore piston goes fast enough it may start vibrating alot and I may not even see it but could wreak havoc to the heli and electronics. I will call AL and post here what he says...

Just spoke with Al. He looked up my engine as to when it was made model etc to see if any improvements were made to that engine. He did correct me saying I owned a 3D MAX 29cc not a Pro Plus. All was good I told him and asked my question. He said simply raise the headspeed and see what happens. He suggested to go to 1850 ,,1875 check the heli out for any vibrations etc.
He basically said there is no reason not to try it and every engine is abit different.
Great guy to speak with and his products speak for themselves.
I bumped up my GV1 to 1875 head speed so we will see what happens!

I flew today my Spectra with the Hanson 29cc engine. I realized through the summer I was running 1700 headspeed in stunt 1. Stunt 2 was 1800. I usually flew in stunt 1. I raised stunt 1 to 1800 and stunt 2 at 1875 . I am now used to 1800 and 1875 seems fine. Engine speed with my ratio at 1800 is 12726 rpms and at 1875 is 13256. The Hanson 29cc puh seems to do very well at either setting but I prefer 1800. Nice engine Al!!!!!!!!
