Align TREX is probably the most cloned heli. You can find a clone TREX 250, 450, 500, 550, 600 easily on ebay.
I don't think you can find a clone of Mikado, Compass, Gaui etc...
I am wondering whether Align is a better design, easy (cost less) to manufacture or else !

It's more popular so it makes sense to clone it.

Funny question, considering at their introduction all those years back, the Trex 450X was hotly accused of being a clone of the Raptor, which it eventually displaced as the heli of choice seen at most fun flies.

Like Dave said the original gray frame 450 looked like a clone of the Raptor. I had one of those machines and immediately converted it to CCPM.

What's amazing is that most of the clone helis copy the Align mistakes too.

If you really dig you will probably find the production of clones as well as the originals come from same factory . You could get cloned raptors from back door of same building/factory that TT gets/got their products . Align is popular for availability and price point so as anything else you will have someone creating knockoffs to make a buck .

I stole it ,flew it and gave it back ;)

Regarding T-Rex 450 copying Raptor, I posted this before in the past, but just because it has a large collective lever doesn't mean it's a clone of Raptor. I took some photos of them side by side and there's like only 10% similarities. People just wanted to find even the slightest similarities so they can say it copied somebody.

If anything, the aileron-servo-in-collective-arm design was originally found in Bergen Intrepid back in 90's.

T-Rex reached its fame for being a low cost contender to the market. But now the clones are making them look expensive. Funny how the market changed over the years.

And now TT is coming back full circle, with their E700, low cost parts and a "crash kit" like the old Raptor days.

Not to mention the availability and abundance of replacement parts.

I believe the Raptor 50 was cloned by two different manufacturers.

Someone did a partial clone of the Logo 600 (but with CF frames a few years ago.

I think that the Mini-Titan was partially cloned as well.

That being said, Align has to be the most cloned brand out there.

No.
Align copies from everyone else - just not completely.

Align pirates the best technology from everyone else, and selectively uses it in the "new" models.

Align is the "Apple Computer" of helicopters.
Apple didn't invent MP3 players, they made them easier to use.
Apple didn't invent the smartphone, they made them sexy.

maybe the most cloned heli, yes possibly, but what i believe is that Align probably has the best business model when it comes to RC Heli's. There is not a single place in the developed world where you can not find somebody selling Align parts. Might not be the most advanced of cutting edge technology, but believe me, 90% of the hobby fliers will never use them too/past their full potential. And that's why they are cloned, because everybody wants to have a slice of the Align pie.

Trust me, i have a Raptor G4 and 3 Aligns and i live at the arse end of the earth, and getting parts for my Raptor vs Align, Align wins hands down not only with availability but also cost to my door.

I think the fact that Aign is cloned so often shows that it is a desireable product. Price and parts availability is a plus.
