Had a great time at the Jetpower 2013 in Germany,
Great to meet with old friends.
ON arrival the field was filling up,despite the unsettled weather.
Nothing stops the Germans LOL.

One thing that did seem apparent is how much Jakodofsky has become so popular in large scale.
All but one of the large models flown over the 3 days were powered with the Jakodofsky turbine in different configurations.

My favorite was the huge 1/4 bell 429 turbine which comes pre built and ready to fly, it cannot be bought as a kit, it runs the jako and a special blade design/setup that makes it fly really quiet.
It flew beautifully in the gusty conditions, probably due to it having a non rigid head setup.
The price like most of the helicopters was very high, this one comes ready to fly for a nice 19800.00 Euros, so for that price it should fly well LOL..

Here it is flying.

Watch at YouTube

There was a stand selling dolls from 1/2 size down to 1/7, they were very detailed.

here are some other shots of the helie only side of the jetpower show.

Finally made the trip home, we left early cos the weather for the UK was gonna be bad so we decided to catch an earlier ferry, which is just as well cos it was a rough crossing in a gale, in the end we got stuck at Dover for an hour waiting to be tugged into port.Hope you got home ok Modtron!!!
I enjoyed my soup and roll on the way home in the nice restaurant LOL
Thanks to Dave for driving i know i paid for all the fuel but it was still a drive. All i can say is,is the Goss Saying,
NOT GOOD FW

Left hotel around 12:00
276 miles to Calais by 3:15 - straight onto train as they were all under booked !
35 minute train ride
Arrived UK around 4:10 (UK time)
Back in Oxford around 6:00

Gave up on the ferries a long time ago !

I don't think we will be going next year to jetpower, there was some lovely jet planks, and what i could not get over was on the friday they all had prices on, some were around 16000 Euros, especially the 1/3 scale, and when Dave and myself went round on the Sunday they had all been sold.

There deffinatly is money in Germany, with some of the prices of those Big hellies.

One of things I was interested in was the Jetcat stand, where most of the single stage PHt3 and other versions of it have now gone over to a metal main gear,i was wondering as it is run dry wether that affects the longevity of them ?

We have booked the Rotor Live show, so am looking forward to that..
Now it is the decision whether to fly or drive.

Hi James,

Is that the company that does a lot of 3D printing for scale bits?
If so they weren't there, Modtron says most tend to support the Rotor Live in March, which next year is 8 and 9 March 2014.

Edit

Found the site, no i did not see the machine with the double rotor head.

Liked the look of this fenestron..

Our thinking rightly or wrongly was wether this was for the 1/4 scale EC135 that Vario now do.

Was a serious bit of kit.

Jung Cad Modeltecknic have not been to JetPower for some years now and to be honest, they are not really missed.
They also have not bothered with going to Rotor Live as their available range is very limited for the modeller.

As for the 1/4sc Fenestron - I think you will find that it is for the Comanche that was on the back of the stand.

The mechanics pictured with the Jackadofsky Turbines look very much like Jung Cad Modeltecknic work, in relation to the oil filled gearbox and servo mount positions. Just an observation really.

Agreed, they do look very similar - some years ago Jakadofsky showed a similar set up before Jung but nothing came of it.
They also had a twin engine set up into the same gearbox.
Lots of people now produce nearly identical layouts under their own labels.

Re the Commanche. It looks massive. do you know if it comes on one piece or has a detachable tail.
Agree that those mechanics look a lt like the CAD one. I'm not really sure if CAD is still selling things. I stopped 18 months ago trying to get an email response.
From the pictures seen here there appears very little new fuselages. The fuselages from Premium Helicopter were there two years ago. I cannot remember but I assume their stuff is pricey.

yeah the premium Helicopters 429 prices were 19800 euros complete and ready to go.

I did not ask the guy how much the commanche were, but they did fly very well at the demo.
Very quiet due to the tail rotor system.

All of the German Helicopters were pricey, there was not one second hand or demo model below 13000 euros.

It was funny cos over here we are lucky to get 5K for a top scale heli, even Lee Marshalls master piece is up for sale ar 4250.00

I appreciate the turbine does add that WOW factor, but in my opinion it is still very expensive to be a scale flyer over there.

The Pilot is Bernd Poting - a very highly respected pilot who runs his own flight schoolfor all types of model flying.
