I got hurt once while mowing, and once while shredding limbs...no one else was home either time.
Maybe I should just sit in my chair when no one else is home

If you let the fear get you, you will second guess everything you do. When you 2nd guess yourself, that's when accidents happen.
I have seen his vids,,he had no fear,,he was a kid. As all of us when that age ,,,we will live forever,,,,maybe a defective plastic ballink for 20 cents??? You are assuming the machine is perfect,,,, it is not,,,,,

Setup is everything, All my heli's can fly far better than I can pilot them

Means nothing if you are mortally wounded.....people were there at the time and it did not help.

well, now, you see, or do you? what rc heli flyers don't need or need to inspire are hot heads, show offs, thrill seekers, dick heads. Like anything good that some young idiots assume control of it always and I mean ALWAYS goes bad.

Take skateboarding, motor bikes, cars, snowboarding, kiting, everything basically, there's always some foolhardy dood out to make a statement "LOOK AT ME". Hey, fine, if you gotta kill yourself to feel the rush then we won't attribute your death to something unjust, you can say you tempted fate and lost, your loss and no one elses. When your young you are stupid, you set a stupid example, you buck the system thinking no one cares, and you hang around idiots aka "LOST BOYS" because they'll beat you if you don't run with the pack.

Society is shyt, have your toys, show off a little, fly in real close, sure, you must be crazy and have a death wish. CAN ANYBODY STOP YOU? Listen however, the Roman P death was a little different than that and if it, because of unforseen variables like wind, mechanical failure, lack of preparation, etc, happened out of sheer bad luck or a miscalculation, that's not his own undertaking and he is blameless.
I did a memorial flight, took it up inverted, up , up , up. THe whole crew at the field lost track of it it was so high.
You actually illegally entered FAA airspace and should be fined heavily for it. YOU ARE A
BAD EXAMPLE!!!!!!

I'm sure you fly great, don't get me wrong, I'm sure you're a nice guy but if no one has taken you aside and give you some straight goods, if you care, then we will wait patiently by for the day when the show ends for you, somehow, somewhere, or you stop before it's too late which ever comes first. Guns, cars, women, money, all the same,
WINNERS AND LOSERS.
What makes a winner is knowing when to stop before things bite so hard they're left with NOTHING, seriously injured, and or dead. Don't take everyone around you down in the process. I know a few of both.

You've been told. Wish someone told me shyt like this when they had the chance. It isn't the rc helicopter but what it has become, DEADLY in the hands of idiots.

A very wide person once said "Don't tempt the angels". You might understand it better without a religious aspect to it as DONT TEMPT THE ANGLES!!

I'm fortunate not to ave taken up rc helis when I was young and reckless and a hothead, Yea, I was one, STIMULATING. I have many stories, many near misses too. Lack of guidance and a bad attitude toward the world can do that sort of thing, and ganja and bad schooling and broken home, and bad friends, and bad examples, ahch the list goes on, WELCOME TO THE WORLD, lol.

HAHA, nah man, throwing it out while the iron is hot.

Hey man, I had a dream where I saw a shipping box full of rows of different sizes of blades and could take any, or is that MAKE any? Yup, going to make rc heli stuff one day and the pieces of the puzzle are falling in place, see you there. Chop chop, on the double.

You know , these large helis have reared there full potential now in terms of how powerful/lethal they can be to a human being in an accident. It isn't difficult to realize guys have backed off from up close and personal 3d and are flying a bit further from their self. The world is competitive though. 3d is fantastic in a lot of ways and can be seen as an expressive art form much more complex than flying a kite. (I have a neighbor who flies his kite from his back yard and has been observed holding it steady about 300ft up. I'll ask how much line next time)

I live along a small aircraft flight path and can almost pick out the rivets on something flying by. They routinely fly at 1000ft and slightly less (flex zone. You need clearance paperwork to fly down to 500ft unless your a heli who must land).

No regular flying is as wild as 3d, this is a new type of challenge flying totally unheard of or seen since not too long ago. It would be a terrible trend to inspire super close flying, with or without protection. It would be wise to reduce and limit that style, close up, as quickly and often as possible.

3d heli flying is the greatest form of flight ever. It's a mental challenge that stresses you to think in ALL POSSIBLE DIRECTIONS and quickly. I applaud the kids who can do it with style, with bravado, safely. Best kudos to them, the world over. I'm fortunate to have a chance at this thing called 3d. Do what you must now that the marks of danger are in your mind from RP and the Swede. You'll be to blame if you are negligent in not doing something about it, "Nip it in the Bud" as it were.

Much respect, take care.

I am not saying this is what caused it. We don't know. I posted this because all machines can fail no matter how good the pilot /builder is.
I would think it would be good to know what happened and learn from it.

The poster said he saw two Goblins go in because of a link failure recently

It would but that's not possible.
No one saw it except one guy and guess what....

Just be careful and take care of your stuff.

McKrackin ,,I think you are correct on your responce to my post. "Wild Speculation" I will delete the post.
It was only my intent to show that many things are beyond our control ,,,,not a specific product.

I do not fly much 3D but some of the guys at the field do and seem to be flying further out than before.

Never dangerously close but you can never tell when something mechanical may fail.

Anything can happen with these models or anything else in our daily lives.

Having seen the medical examiners photos of the damage that the model did to the poor kid, I was in utter shock and it reminded me how we need to respect the power and speed these models have as well as how important regular maintenance is.

I will however continue to fly the way I always have and try to be as careful as possible without actually fearing the models but rather respecting them.

I guess my only thought is that I'd hope the folks who saw what happened would actually share so that it could put an end to all speculation.
