Victim has a good point about posting them on forums, or at least adding them in the manual.
I recall spending about 15 minutes on the phone with one of the Castle engineers last year about the same issue we are discussing, I mentioned the idea of locking out the Pro Castle features such as PWM, timing, motor power, and current limit to Align users OR offer preset settings for specific motors that one could use with that kit(etc. just click on settings called MX 800/850, KDE 495,600XF 530, Scorpion 4025 560/530...)making using the kit castle much more fool proof.
One would only be able to unlock Pro features if they updated the firmware and agreed to a explicitly warranty from Castle(if one chnges the pro settings and it catches fire it would be investigated at your expense). These ESC's would be locked out in kits that are sold with CC from Align and would have settings stored for the MX motors , this is sorta the same thing I recently found out that YGE does with the Mikado Logo kit.
I remember asking him why the headache of having to answer to more than enough warranty claims and the reply I got was "I will look into it".
I really thought that small input would make some sort of impact but it was water on a camels hump.

At my Job the main thing to do is to always cover your ass at all times. I kinda think if castle does this they may be fully liable for crashes/fires.

Good recommendation shiny. Align should do this since they include the ESC in the kit! As you pointed out, Mikado does this for the YGE included with the Logo Xxtreme kits.

Having said that, with this talk about ESC settings I think some are desperately trying to divert the attention away from the OP's fire being the manufacturer's responsibility, and worse, attempting to lay the blame on the user! That's extremely bad customer service. Align needs to man up and take care of its customers.

Without mentioning names, I witnessed the same piss poor customer service and blaming the user from Ace when they represented Thunder Tiger. That attitude turned me off permanently to Thunder Tiger products. Align appears to be going down the same path to undesirability. If you include something in your kit you take full responsibility for it. Anything less is shirking responsibility and reflects poorly on the manufacturer and its reps.

I bought the rest of the heli that didn't burn down from the OP. It came today with surprisingly little damage. Of course the canopy and rear of the frames are charred a bit, and the ESC plate is toast. All the wiring was neat and no breaks or chafing that I can find, and with my meter I tested all the remaining wires to the motor. All connections are good, and there are no shorts.

Looks like it was just a Castle ESC fire. Shame that it had to happen on such a nice heli and bring it down.

Hey Eury! Would you mind leaving me some feedback on the bird? Could help to sell some other things I have on here.

BTW...thanks for confirming it wasn't my doing as the Align "rep" had assumed. If I ever get back into heli's, I sure as hell won't buy an Align thanks to that guy.

Yep aligns customer service sucks all over the world and the lieing begins are the factory !!!
Sorry this is just about Align not CC , my 700x front tail gears failed and I completely trashed my heli , the UK rep contacted Align and they just blamed me !!! Even though new red tail gears have been released and stronger front cases , they tell me there an upgrade and not needed and it's not there fault and would not supply me any new parts to keep me happy !!!
My 700x has been sitting in boxes for over 6 weeks !!!!
Right now I really hate Align bad !

Yeah it's a tricky one this. If you think of how often these things end up in the dirt, imagine if everyone started blaming faulty parts and demanding free spares to repair the damage or a full new kit! Align would be bankrupt in no time! Especially with front tail gears, you can damage those by getting the heli in and out of your car if your not careful! Then there's proving you weren't flying over the recommended rpm and pitch etc. etc.

ESC's are different, they have built in protection for over temp and over current, they should not set on fire under any circumstances.

60% of the time, it works every time!
