OK, I have a Century Radikal airframe with engine I bought earlier this year as an impulse buy (I know, I shouldn't have but so it goes).

Now I'm thinking, I really don't want to fiddle with this thing. I have it on Ebay but I'm not hopeful it's going to sell for anything.

So one possibility I started thinking about is putting the G20 engine in a Futura SE airframe. I have several spare airframes and I know I can make it easily as light as the Radikal. I could run it as a '640' size to emulate what the Radikal was supposed to be, only with a high quality reliable airframe.

Is this just a silly idea? Would the G20 simply not have the beans?

Maybe I'm better off dumping it at all costs. What do you guys think?

Over in the gasser forum, it is mentioned that a G20EI (modified)achieved a power output of 2,9hp @12000 RPM...
That would be plenty.. go for it and tell us!

I believe you should put the rad together and formulate your own opinions based on your experiences. Then you will really have something to compare on hand vs others opinions...and or mine.

OR...send to RM3 for modification

Thanks Markus and Pistol Pete,

I ended up just selling the Radikal

I was just thinking about alternatives and what other things I could do with that engine but being practical for a moment it was best that I just sell it because I have too many other heli projects going.

I still have a Century Predator SE with a 26cc Hanson and really it's more of what I like about gassers, it's big and mean and has a pull-start. It's a bit 'old school' now but to me it's a bit of a classic. I have it all dissasembled still after a crash a couple years ago so I should spend a little time and get it flying again.

The last few months I haven't even been flying nitro! It has been all electric most of the year. I also have a project I have been neglecting which is fitting a Laser 150 fourstroke engine into my Futura SE, so I need to focus on one thing at a time and get these things done.

Yeah, I had to track down the smallest rear pulley I could find in order to get the gear ratio right down because the Laser wants to run at about 8000 rpm! It can rev to around 9500 but not much more than that.

I found a 38 tooth pulley and my front pulley on the clutch bell is 37 so it's close enough as a starting place but we'll just see how it goes. They say max torque on the Laser is between 8000 and 9500 rpm so somewhere in there I would want to be getting about 1900 headspeed (which it should be capable of because the power is supposed to be on a par with a 2 stroke .91)
