Was thinking of buying the 700 but am worried about the tail hum. I believe many guys r using Rail tail blades to fix this issue. What do u guys think, have most of u encountered this problem? I don't want my heli exploding in the air or worse cause injury to me or other flyers

Looks as if you have been following a HF thread that is nearly a year old, with 50+ odd pages of posts. As I read through that thread, it also appears that Align changed the tail rotor shaft design and manufacture quite awhile ago to address the problem of the tail rotor shaft snapping off at the tail rotor hub by introducing a new shaft, among other bits.

I find it a bit unfriendly to say just "U". It is not an old post, it's still ongoing.

I can tell you for sure hum is not a myth, brand new heli out of the box and I got it. It is a vibrating sound you can't miss. Once you start modifying things you will notice it is masked and many pilots complain that they can't get rid of it totally. Quite frustrating.

for people to think its not happening anymore you are dead wrong. just about everyone with the dfc v3/pro kits are getting it. i just bought a new pro kit last month and i can tell you its deff there unless i use rail blades. ive tried 2 different tail boom, 2 diff TT's, rebuilt the tail case 3 times and nothing but using the rail tail blades seem to work. at this point until they release some different gearing that's as good as it gets..... which trust me, it drives me NUTS!!!!

its extremely frustrating to drop $1500 on a heli and IMMEDIATELY have to start modding it. its about every 3/5 kits have this problem.....

If I remembercorrectly...Dino stated running the tail blades fairly tight in the grips helps...too loose and you get the "hum"

I had the out of track issue myself with 700E DFC. I went to a set of Edge blades, and it seemed to take care of it. While I was at it I put the Trex 500 bearings on the torque tube, changed to the new black gears and output shaft too. Seems to be good now.

The heli would be fine in hover but as soon you applied a burst of collective a horrible sounding noise (not a hum, more like a squeal?) came out of the tail. It was awful sounding.

Those that are getting the hum, did you check the tail blade balance?

I would imagine it's humming because it doesn't know the words.

Going from 24t to 22t would speed the tail up, not slow it down. So which did you do? And in the "fixed" video, sorry, but it still doesn't sound all that great to me.

Agree actual sound horrible. I replaced the tail blades with rail blades and all tail issues disappeared. Also you want to use the 22 if your going to run lower heads under 2050.
