There is a chance I'll be moving to Ft Worth early next year. I'm curious what the flying scene is like there.

Any notable hobby shops in the area?

Thanks,
John

Aero hobbies in lewisville is a big shop. There is also Bobby jacks which is a little closer to ft worth. Depending on the area there is a field off grapevine lake. I live closer to Dallas so don't know too many field but you won't have a problem finding people, tons of open field

As for AMA fields you can fly at the 114th Squadron in the Grapevine area. You can fly at the Ft Worth Thunderbirds, we have a designated heli area. TBirds are located on the south side of Lake Benbrook. There is also Johnson County Flyer's. The field is in Alvarado Texas.

Bobby Jack's in Alvarado, TX off of HWY 67 specializes in Helicopters.

Aero Hobbies specializes in helicopters as well but is also a shop that does other forms of RC as well. That shop is in Lewisville.

Let me know if you head this way.

Fort Worth clubs and shops
In Fort Worth, there are two clubs. There is Thunder Birds(TB) and Johnson County Flyers(JCF). TB is a big club over 100 members, mostly plane, but there are a few of us Heli guys out there. JCF is a much smaller club. I'm a member of both as are a majority of the Heli guys.

As far as Hobby Shops, Bobby Jacks is pretty good for heli stuff.

There is another club in Fort Worth, but it's mostly air plane guys. I went there to check it out some time back. The area designated for Helis was way small. I don't personally know any heli guys out there.

There is also a club in grapevine, but I don't consider that Fort Worth.

If you do come down to Fort Worth, it will be good seeing you.

I would say in this area of the country, Ft. Worth is probably one of the most active heli communities. Great place to live!!!

Just a heads up, you will have to get a Gaui tattoo
