When we head to the fields to fly this weekend please keep this tragedy in your mind and don't become complacent.

While I'm certainly no model of safety and take my fair share of risks, I will now do what I can to increase the margin of safety to which I fly.
- Mike Fortin

This is good advice. While we could argue this was a freak accident and injuries in our hobby are rare, there are simple measures we can take to reduce them further.

To everyone, there are people who love you! Do what you can to enjoy this wonderful hobby and return to them safe and sound.

I agree. Please keep the heli away from yourself and others. It's not about your ability, as you are only as good as your equipment. One loose bolt or a faulty electronic unit can be devastating.

Ditto JimmyC, This is a wake up call for what can go wrong at a blink of an eye. Keep your Heli at a safe distance and keep in mind that this could have happened to any of us. My heart and prayers go out to his family in this time of sorrow and the mourning they are going through dealing with this terrible loss. May God comfort all of those who will forever miss this young man!

I maidened a 700 last night just before going home and reading of the
tragedy. Was back out tonight w. the same machine, thinking every second
of what happened to Roman and what this heli could do to me.

Very sobering that it could have easily been any one of us, simply by the
nature of what we fly. As well put above, no matter what your skill level,
you have very little control over an electrical glitch or freak mech.
failure.NOT saying that is what happened here.

Full condolences to the family and friends!
