I have a G20 that I bought as a bit of an impulse buy (pretty cheap) and I am now selling it and have been asked about spares availability and will Century continue to support it.

I never really thought about these questions because I have a Predator gasser that is older and have never had any trouble getting spares (I haven't needed much as it has been very reliable anyway).

Sooooo, what's the consensus on this? Is it likely you'll be able to get spares a year from now etc. ?

Thanks

well my guess is that you will be able to get parts...but the support is slowly falling away by what I can tell... one vendor I used to get parts from is slowly clearing his stock by what I can see, never even jumped into getting the G30 or N/E 640 in stock, my guess he plans on just doing away with it (may have somthing to do with the whole $299 kit offer that screwed so many vendors over), other vendors (besides Heli World) are most of the time out of parts or have now placed them on a "by request" or special order status only... if this is caused by a lack of demand that they don't refill or high demand and slow to produce by manufacturer I'm not sure. there alot of heli vendors out there, but very few carry the G30 much less the G20 AND parts.

Keep in mind that the G20 is still one of the cheapest gassers on the market and they are plently of them out there flown by newbies and sport fliers alike. So hopefully that fact alone will keep it around for at least another year or two despite its minor flaws that its stock form somtimes suffers from.

...I have a love hate relationship with mine, love the cheap flights but hate the fact that I had to "upgrade" everything to get what I felt it needed.

besides, you sold the thing, let the guy how bought it deal with it...

Thanks RM3. I haven't sold it yet I am just doing my 'due diligence' so that I can answer truthfully when someone asks about parts.

I had a couple enquiries from my ad but no one coughing up the dough so it's next stop Ebay. Or perhaps I'd get more breaking it up for spares. The Century helis in general have never been too popular in the UK.

Call Dennis at the heli farm. He does a great job of keeping things in stock or getting them quickly when you need them. I love my g20 but it sits on a shelf until I become a better pilot. I also bought a g30. They're a fun build and the satisfaction of flying the little engine is great.

Thanks for the info guys I didn't know about helifarm. I will check him out. I was ready to take the motor and electronics off the rad 30 and just toss the rest of the heli in the trash.

I've never had any issues getting spares for my Radikal G20, if Midland don't stock them try CENTURY France http://centuryheli.fr/jws/index.php? or alternatively heliworld.

My gasser might not be light but it can fly better than I can fly it

Here in the states, the Radikal looks like its dying off...checked Centurys website, online dealer list is down to three that actually carry stuff:

Heli World - sells all century stuff

Espirt Model - only parts, and 2 kits by special order (640 series), 1 kit of the Predator

Rons heli pros - parts for the G20 only (not much either) and barely carries the G20 kits, no G30s

the other Stateside "dealers" may order the parts if you need them but don't stock anything much if anything at all.

I'm begining to wonder if going with the Radikal was a good idea...should have gone with an Align....Century no longer advertises on RR, wonder if that means anything...

Century Is Last Century....

This is the 21st Century they did not want to compete in the 3D market or at least it appears that way.

All of the other Companies came up with new innovations for performance and what does Century do? They repackage old parts and sell as new kit with different frame.

I too had High hopes for Century when I started out and they have let me down as well as many others. Very sad to see how business practices have changed.

yup...I can wait......at least I can walk into most any good RC hobby store and find crap for a Trex...parts availability from more than one source is big on my list.

So what is the scoop on Century?? Are they going out of business or what? I love my G20 and have had very few problems with it, however I don't fly it very hard.
So, what's up with Century?

whats the scoop?...I wish I knew. Going out of business? I doubt that, at least anytime soon.

This is what happens when a bunch of LHS stock up on G20s kits, try to sell them at $600 and then one of the manufacturers big time dealer turns around and has a sale at $199, F-ing the smaller dealers over. dealers then drop stocking the product line (I would). Thats the way I see it. in some cases dropping the entire Century line in protest.

I'm wondering how long it will be before my G20 becomes permanent wall decor.

I get that smaller vendors are upset with Century under selling them. I hope we'll still be able to buy parts for the G20 and G30.

guys, here in Vermont no matter what brand I fly I have to order any and all parts, yes if I flew a different brand I could drive a 170 mile round trip and buy parts, so with that, even if I did fly a different brand, in the end it's still much cheaper for me to pick up the phone or order on line, so I can't complain on ordering parts

It was like that for me living in Montana. I had to drive almost 5 hrs to get to Heliproz. Once I got there, I felt guilty for driving 5 hrs to buy heli parts and usually left with only a magazine or t-shirt. Luckily I had a neuro surgeon there and then I could go to the apt and then buy my heli parts and drive home the next day.

I get nervous when it comes to getting parts for my G20. My Trex 450 is a seV2 and it's getting very hard to find parts for it. I may have to bench it and save up for a new 450. Maybe one of those new hobby king 450s.

I have a Swift NX and a Swift 16. I went to order some main blade grips and other parts a few weeks ago and some parts were out of stock. I emailed Century/Heliworld asking when these parts would be back in stock. 2 weeks went by without an answer, which was kind of weird because whenever I asked a question before, I got an answer in 1-2 days. So, I called Heliworld and asked when the parts would be back in stock. I was told that unless their factory (in China) had some extra parts from a production run, those parts that were oos would stay oos, 'cause they wouldn't be making them any more. I asked, what gives, I've got a current model heli and you tell me there's not going to be any parts for it? I was told that Century/Heliworld would be concentrating on quads/multirotors in the future and not on helis. Was this an official statement? Nope, just an "aside" from an employee. Do they have more parts for some helis than others in stock? Yup. I do know that they've been blowing out some models at extremely low prices. Just my 2 cents.

85r80rt-havin fun with helis at 7200 feet!
