Hi fellow Vario fans,

I just purchased a Vario Benzin petrol trainer. I have been flying gas helis for several years and decided I would like to fly a Vario. I want to put a Mizar fuselage on it down the road. It looks like it has the 725mm vario blades. Main and tail gears are 85/23.
Are these the correct gears for the 725 blades? What gear ratio does that put my engine at? Will I be able to install this setup in a Mizar fuse as is or do I need to change gearing, boom, blades,
etc to be compatible. Any help would be great. Thanks guys

Best Regards,

Tim

You have what was the small benzin trainer. The gear ratio is good for the 725 main blades. The Mizar fuse takes the longer benzin, so you would have to stretch it and change the gear ratio to the 90:18 to run 800mm main blades.

Mizar
Could I stretch the boom to fit the Mizar and leave the gearing as it is and just fly it with the 725 blades?

Gearing
So what is the final gear ratio for my engine? Trying to figure out the optimal head speed for the engine rpm.

Its a two stage setup. Top stage is 85/23= 3.69
Lower stage is 40/22= 1.818
1.818x 3.6= 6.5 to 1.
Head speed not over 1600
