that explains a lot, thanks makes me want one.
so 700 motor in a 550 geared low, depending on the weight difference between the regular motor and the 830kv. I could see this setup being more efficient. any idea on weight difference?

in all likely hood this kit will end up as a stretched 550 spinning 600's and pushing 12s

Yeah I am looking forward to hear some flight reports. We will see! I already ordered the older version but in reality the only difference between the two is the new motor and modding the frame. The esc is the same. Man 12s would be nuts,,,,

Setup is everything, All my heli's can fly far better than I can pilot them

Oh yes I forgot the "pro" comes with the 550 main blades along with the lower KV 700 motor..
Is it ok to spin 550's at 2500 + headspeed? I have heard even with the smaller 520 mains much below 2500 the tail is abit slow to hold because of the rather low tail gear ratio. With bigger mains the tail will be worked even harder.

Aligns site , shows them both as pro's and both with the 850kv motor , is there another one with 700kv motor
No there is not. The previous motor was 1200 kv and a 600 size.

700 is the size motor for the size of the heli,,,a 700

Setup is everything, All my heli's can fly far better than I can pilot them

""6S Li-Po 1100~1400mAh battery x 1""

Setup is everything, All my heli's can fly far better than I can pilot them

I ran something similar to this setup for almost two years. A 600 stretched boom and I went all over from 6s to 12s to 10s and I ended up with a really steep gear ratio as my favorite setup. 15 tooth on the KDE 112 gear. I had to reinforce the frame in a few places but overall it was a killer machine. Appx 2500rpm on 553mm/95mm. 13deg coll. zero collective managing awareness IMO these types of low kv low gear setups are for the extreme violent styles of flight. The "fly it like you stole it" guys. I personally admire a machine capable of sustaining several totally disrespectful flights. But the fun only lasts so long, same as anything. These setups have several drawbacks too. Everything is give and take. If you want all out performance you have to be willing to accept the fact that it is currently only available in 3 minute increments or less. That is until the next battery technology comes. Also our 65c rated packs have a very short life expectancy while being discharged at a consistent 20c (60min/3min flight=20C rating average discharge). I think packs were lasting roughly 100 cycles before they were just untrustworthy anymore. I guess I am just trying to say that everything comes at a cost. My experiences tell me this machine is aimed at the high head speed crowd, who don't mind short flight times, very frequent maintenance from the increase torque loads associated with a 1;7 gear turning such a mass, or replacing packs about twice as often

This machine is loaded up from the factory as far as i can see to be a very successful contender Makes me regret selling my old one.

You would think an 8S power system would put a grin on most of our faces.

Why isn't 8s more popular for this size

JMO
I like a 450 on 4s, a 500 on 6s, a 550 on 8S, a 600 on 10S and a 700 on 12S, a 800 on 14S
They should also spin the same size blades as their name indicates

i agree. 8s will be a very popular upgrade for this system

3700mah-4000 8s would keep cg bang on being they are same weight and not to mention total energy as a 5000 6s

great post Mccollister911. That makes sense to me that with low end grunt kv motor but a tall ratio it would suck the electrons outa a pack very fast and give pretty nutty performance. But at a cost of run time. Glad I didnt order that one.

Setup is everything, All my heli's can fly far better than I can pilot them
