At the Speed Cup at IRCHA there were a few European pilots flying tray radios. The XG14E looks nice. I've never tired a tray radio, but learned how to fly using a transmitter tray and have never been as comfortable using just a neck strap as using a tray.

Well it's in stock. I would think it is as good as a 10CGH. About the same price. And it has telemetry. Dead silence on the forums.

XG14E not quite here:

I was at the Chicago iHobby expo yesterday, and got to hold both the XG14 and the XG14E. I have the 11X at present.

I agree with BrainDrain, that the radio doesn't have the same heft as the 11X. But the gimbals feel very smooth, and the rubber grips on the switches feel good. I would definitely buy it if I was upgrading, but I am happy with my 11X at present. Everything felt high quality and easy on the hands.

There was a guy from Japan at the booth who said that the XG14 and 14E will be made in Japan, while the lower ones may be made elsewhere.

He expected the sales of the 14E to be very limited, just because of our radio style preferences. The switches at the stick tops felt very crisp.

I intend to buy the 14E just to try the EU thing. Robbe/Futaba makes an FX32 with stick switches but I don't think there is a chance in hell of getting one - FCC legal. I have a 12Z for hand holding. No telemetry.

I have been using the XG14 for a couple of weeks now, works flawless and imho has the best ergonomics compared to futaba or spektrum.
Now the XG8 and XG6 also have xbus available, so only advantage of the XG14 are the aluminium gimbals... they are very smooth though.

Well the 14 has 7-point curves if anyone uses those things anymore.

I just ordered one and hope to receive it later this week.

I have not had a new radio in a few years (since the 11X came out), so I am really looking forward to this.

I have the JR 12X24 and I was surprise that the 14 is half of the price. Why? Perhaps like someone said too much plastic.
Any way I am happy with my 12X, and I'm willing to change it if something like the Futaba 18 channels comes to the market.
JR is becoming like Atari, one day will be something to talk about it.
Some executives didn't keep with the new technology
They should check what is happening with the Sony Plasma TV. The Koreans took over the market.

Capitalism drives product development. The money maker is the ~$500 and less radios. That is the reason for the giant hole in Futaba's lineup and the lack of a super JR. Would you consider the XG11 with the new metal sticks and 18 channels a super radio ? You might actually see that next year.

My new XG14 last Monday.

Very nice radio!

It is somewhat smaller than the X11, but feels very good ergonomically.

The gimbals are very, very smooth!

Programming is similar to the 11X and 12X, but there are more features, which is nice.

Test vehicles will be a stretched Atom and a VQ P-39.
