If I were the zero owner/pilot I would be furous, but not at the helicopter guy, at myself.
1) He called low pass but I didn't hear anybody call "Clear"
At my field anybody landing or low pass called it and then his spotter or another person would call out "CLEAR" in a loud voice, other wise he would abort.
2) Did he give others enough time to clear the area. After all, it takes some time to land a helicopter.
3) Was it really a low pass directly over and in line with the runway (as McKrackin pointed out).

I think about the hereafter. I go somewhere to get something, then wonder what I'm here after ?

At 1:09 I heard someone yell "Low Pass" as to alert what was going to happen. Not sure why a heli and a plank would be flying that close to each other in the air
At a club I fly at, the planks fly up high in pattern and helis can fly below. We choose not to go up if a plank is flying but some do..

Sorry to see such a beautiful plane totally destroyed. Was the engine salvageable ? I would have gone home and cried for days.

I was furious at the heli pilot.

At my field, our rule is, "heli guys can fly at the flightline but they must fly pattern when there are airplanes in the air." The heli guy was doing tricks over the runway. He had been previously warned several times about this flightline rule by many others. He is generally an out of control pilot.

So, yes, I was over the runway; spotter said I was clear; the little 450 started doing a backwards inverted pass over the runway (out of control according to witnesses) right into me.

Well, that certainly would put the heli at fault.

That certainly changes my opinion...Rules are rules.

I literally never use the word literally right.

The rule in full scale, IIRC, is that the more maneuverable aircraft has to give right-of-way to less maneuveral ac, unless that aircraft is on approach for a landing (then the landing ac has right-of-way regardless).

So if the heli was landing at the time, it would be my opinion that the plane was at fault. Otherwise, the heli being the more maneuverable one, he should have been out of the way of the plane making the low pass.

For RC it may be different, and you'd have to defer to what the rules are at that particular field...

I don't have audio at the moment, so can't hear what's going on. But that'd be my first reaction to what it looks like is happening.
