The YS56 uses a "fuel injection system for a more consistent run" I would check the "check valve" as mentioned and the "lenght" of the tubing from check valve to back plate. I believe it should be 3 7/8, I just made my tubing 4".

The spray bar and in fact all the internal parts in the HZ vs regulated carbs are different.
What is the spray bar?

I just dropped the regulator and installed the fuel inlet on my 91HZ-R....Worked good.
Thank you

When the HZ-R works right...it works awesome.
When it has a minor problem...it's a nightmare problem.lol...

I literally never use the word literally right.

That's the little pipe that comes out of the barrel in the middle of the venturi. On the regulated carbys, this part is bigger than on the traditional one. The needle/seat combos are also different part numbers, but I can't remember what the difference is.

Well screw it then, just replace the part and don't listen to me lol... That's cool if it does work. I bet with a header tank that probably helps even more and you can do it? So why not...

Is the carb on the YS56 special? It uses back plate pressure direct to carb with no regulator. Just the check valve between tank and crank case.
The YS56 has a regulator built into the carb (in the black part) as seen here:
