One of the tail blade grips ejects in midair. The same thing happened to me before which was caused by the broken tail spindle screw. This time, however, is not the same case. When I check the tail spindle, I do not see any broken screw inside. Guess what... all the threads inside the spindle is gone.

You must be using the older tail grips from the ESP days?
Switch to the new grips if you are, that should solve that kind of issue. If you are using V2, change bearings, spindle and screw and check your tail blades for balance and chips as well.

Fly hard, fly low, fly till she leaves and never comes back.

Yes, the newest version blade grips use thrust bearings in the tail.

I just bought this version. Is this an old tail or has it been upgraded since it first came out?

That is the oldest version. There has been a few upgrades since that one came out. Still an excellent heli to fly. The biggest difference is the plastic to metal upgrades and FBL.

How big of a problem is that tailrotor on the older version? Do you know what I need to order to do the upgrade, specifically? Thanks.

For hovering and sport flying, no issue at all. Now when you start to want to do the higher head speeds, you will want to go with the pro tail blade grips because they included a thrust bearing.
