I have always been a fanatic of flying High, far and fast my helicopters.... The time has come to build myself a "speed" Heli... Let's see how it goes... This is an experiment that I do know that already has been done... It is just that the specifics have not been posted. I will do this writting for the Fellow Heli pilot's that might think to do the same.....

I will be posting some photos (time permitting) on the custom build I am doing on a TDR with an UVULAR Body...
Hardware:
**TDR Kit
Mikado Uvular Body Kit
Xera 4530 G-mauro modified motor
Kontronik Kosmik 160HV
RJX HV Cyclics
RJX HV Tail
Mikado FBL Vbar
Rail Blades 696 Mains
Rail Blades 106 Tail

For the time being, I started construction of the Heli Mechanics and painted Flat black the Uvular Body... Front "windows" on the Body have been painted Gloss black.. A Yellow Line has been painted at bottom of Body for Orientation... I will be applying the Comet Yellow Sticker that Jan Included in the Henseleit Kit....

I just made a "partial" fitment of the Mechanics inside the Uvular Body , and it seems as I might need to "cut" modify a bit shorter the Tail boom... ( Not so sure)... I will know on a later date ( As construction progress evolves)....

We actually considered selling the mounts but decided against it. It works well but is quite the pig lol. Mine was the heaviest at the speedcup but I also think OAT put lots of paint on it...

Does your TDR Aluminum boom had to be cut??? Or they added To the Body??

What mounts do you refer you considered selling?

Can you post photos of the Inside to see how the Mechanics where installed onto the body?

Will greatly appreciate it.
Thanks

UVR
LOL Knuckledragger thanks.. As far as the mounts we had to make 2 mounts for underneath where landing gear mount. They serve 2 purposes one is for the landing fear and also the fuse actually mounts to the front one. Then there are mounts for the middle of fuse up near vbar mount. Then there is one mount in the boom and yes the boom and TT was cut to fit. All mounts were made to utilize stock Uvular mounting holes. Just had to do some trimming around swash and in the tail area. For the record this is a collaboration between me and Kyle, he did the cad work I did the machining since I have a shop it's called the UVR. Here is a few more pictures one of them was before paint was done. The fuse was involved in a fire at IRCHA 2012 but it cleaned up well...

Now working on the skids and fitment on Body of Uvular.
Note I used the CF Skids from the Uvular , cut them to size and sanded them to expose the Carbon fiber look.
On the Fitment of the Body with the TDR mechanics, I used some of the bolts and adapters that the Uvular Body Brought. New Holes where made on back of Body and also I made out of wood the bases for the skids and main frame.

Next step will be to paint the wood bases and some minor fitment.

Body and mechanics fitted.!!

I had to cut 17 mm of the tail boom... This is how it will look, except it still missing the Yellow Comet sticker..
Now, will start installing the electronics to the TDR...

To answer the blade size question. I have run up to 720mm blades but am currently running 700mm. I am running 95 tail blades but have run as small as 85mm. If you are only doing forward flight, no 3d which I would not recommend than you can get away with large blades. Just no inverted or 3d and watch for boom strikes...

The reflection of the light in that first photo makes it look like it has an eyeball.

Very nice... that's a very seksy body on some very seksy mechanics.
