Greetings fellas,
I have been flying FPV for a little while using a trex 450. I want to move a small quad. Big enough to still perform while carrying the camera gear, but small enough to fly in tight areas. I was thinking some hobby king stuff and building the frame myself. Any suggestions for motors props and ESCs would be appreciated.

stupid gravity......

Grab a DJI 450 frame or even a clone of that same frame. That way when you break an arm (when, not if), you can easily replace it for $4 bucks instead of having to make something or be tied down to getting them from 1 or 2 suppliers.

If you want inexpensive, go with Turnigy NTM Prop Drive 28-26 1000KV / 315W -$15.99 on 3S or get the 900kv version and run them on 4S. Don't forget to get the accessory packs for them.

If you want awesome motors that you can run on 4S, go with my favorite T-motors. Tiger Motors MT-2216 900KV - $47.41

Use the Hobby King 20A 3A UBEC ESC's and flash them with SimonK firmware or buy the AfroESC 20a ESC's from hobby king. If you want better and nicer, spring for the T-Motor ESC's.

If you want stable and easy, and to fly right out of the box get a Naza flight controller. You don't need GPS unless you want position hold and return to home. If you want stable, but still has the configuration options you'll need to lock it in stable yet switch to manual and basically cut poles get an OpenPilot CC or CC3D board. If you want cheap, but totally configurable, get a Multiwii board. You can pick whichever hardware you like. I like the little "flip" board from Witespy. under $20 and as long as you take time to learn the tweaks, you'll have it flying like it's on rails. But it takes time and patience. If you just want to go fly, pick the Naza or CC3D.

Check out a post I did a while back and just apply that theory to a quad instead of a Hexa.
