Sorry if this has been covered, but I am SERIOUSLY disappointed in DJI for releasing this gimbal and you aren't able to mount it on the F550 without building your own bracket. If it had been one of those $99 eBay specials, okay, but we get this gimbal in that is advertised for the Phantom and Flamewheel models, cost $699 and is manufactured by the same company and it in no way, shape or form is intended to be on the F550.

In the end we made a carbon mount, but if I wanted to hack something together I wouldn't have purchased a $699 unit!!!

Sorry, had to vent.

Hi

I am in the same boat and feel your pain.

I was thinking of buying a lower 450 frame plate and cutting and drilling it to fit on my 550.

Would you mind posting a close up picture of the carbon plate you made?

It may easy some pain over hear.....

Regards
Paul

I don't have a photo of the finished product (it is at the remote office), but here you can see that I attached it on an old Robbe horizontal fin for the Futura SE. I suppose any large size H fin would work. I then spanned it across the two red legs of the F550. A little double side tape and used zip ties where the ESCs are mounted held it firmly.

The fin is oriented with the 'point' of the 'V' towards the center of the machine. It fits nicely between the arms of the F550.

Hi

Good idea. I like it.....

I am sure I have some old horizontal fins in my spares box.
Nice source of a symmetrical piece of carbon.

My F550 & H3-2D ... mount at center of bottom plate using a piece of balsa glued on the center plate. You will find the way .. within two hours after receiving the gimbal I was out flying.

Hi

Another great idea. Well done.

I was thinking of a central mount too, but was concerned that the u/c and props would get into the cameras field of view.

How is it?

Paul

I mounted my Zenmuse H3-2D to my F550 with no special bracket. The only thing I did was drill the holes in the bottom frame where I wanted it, and then used nylon screws to hold it to the frame. I used nylon to avoid the electrical short that would be caused if a metal screw connects the upper and lower electrical planes.

What particular issue did you run into trying to mount it?

I can share a photo if that helps..
