I am wanting to use the HK 2221-2010 on my Embla. Anyone else using this set up? What pinion? How do you like it? Any other issues to note?

Yes, the 2010 in an Embla works great. I use a 13T pinion and the vbar governor. YGE60 ESC.

I'll post what mods I have done with mine later....gotta go to work now.

Sorry. Been a long week.

Alright. The list of non-stock things I did to my Emblas:

- used DS95 servos on the cyclic. These felt noticeably quicker and more locked in than the 5065MGs I tried on the same heli. The only thing is because the DS95 servo cases are so deep, you need to make some spacers to go between the front 2 servos and the mounts. Otherwise, the base of the left servo will interfere with the full travel of the elevator bellcrank.

- used the optional red dampeners in the main rotor head. They are harder and produce less bobble on hard cyclic/direction changes.

- replaced the stock plastic tail blades with Edge carbons. The stock ones give bad vibes at any headspeed over 3000.

- put the Scorpion 2010 and YGE60A ESC in place of the stock config. Use a Revco 13T "hard one" pinion and the VBar governor. I use the full size VBar in my Emblas as well. I also tried the 1680KV scorpion motor. It works ok but the 2010 has slightly more grunt overall probably because the 1680 needs a much larger pinion for the same target headspeed. Idle2 headspeed on my standard Embla is set at 3400. On my stretched Embla (running 353mm blades) Idle2 is 3200.

- I added 0.50mm spacers to the tail grip retaining screws to hold the tail grips out far enough to clear the pitch slider. I used trex450 pitch slider bushings for the spacers.

I then ground down the back of the tail hub to give the pitch slider more travel and more "left" tail control. To do this, I just mounted hub on an old tail shaft and put it in a vice clamping down on the old tail shaft. Then just used a good metal file.
Without doing this, left piros would stall out with any kind of forward speed.

- I bought some carbon tube stock and a longer belt and stretched one of my Emblas to handle up to 360mm blades. Also repainted the canopy for better visibility further out. It does fly bigger and smoother with the longer blades. I need to find some longer tail blades though as 60mm are not quite enough for the added torque of the longer mains when you are stick banging. Align just came out with some longer ones I might have to try.

Here's a pic of the electronics install. Since this pic, I've upgraded the vbar to a silverline sensor and have noticed better stability in full collective fast fwd flight.

I think that's about it. If you have any questions, just ask.

Enjoy your Embla !

Thanks bro! I've had a busy week too so I feel your pain. I've only got 3 weeks left in Kuwait and we are getting our UH-60's ready to come home. Been long days in the heat. Thanks again!

I'm getting ready to do a 6S Embla. I've machined new thicker motor mounts that can handle either the 16 or 19mm motor dimensions on most of the 1700-1800kv motors. It is probably a good idea to stretch the Embla as well for the bigger blades so maybe Kevin will tell us where he got the CF tube and longer belt. It might not be a bad idea to find out where to get some longer stock for the tail rotor pushrod. Maybe a stretch kit would be in order if anyone is interested.

The belt came from SDP/SI. The carbon tube came from RC Foam.

How far did you stretch it? Do you remember the belt spec?
