The cgy and vbar silver use the same sensor that filters out vibration so they are top choices.

I found the vbar gov to be better(auto bailout is glorious) and the vbar in general is much easier to tune than the CGY

I have to say the V Bar for it's governor.

If you have a governor already, don't waste that last $175 and get a BeastX.

I literally never use the word literally right.

When I first made the switch I went with a Bavarian Demon and a GY701 governor only. Hooked immediately and never an issue.

I am quite happy with vbar - have it on three different helis. I have a 450 on BeastX and I have had a couple of 3G (not 3GX) as well.

vbar does everything I want - others may prefer Beastx or 3G or 3GX or helicommand or ....

Most of my friends also fly vbar. IMO, go with vbar.

Tape
Use 3M tape, 4011, I believe.

Most sensors do not like to be hard mounted on nitro Helis. The supplied tape may or may not work. If it doesn't work, it will not hold and the heli will tip over.

The only ones that will not work are the so called mini's. it is my understanding that they are for electrics only? Not sure why.

CGY 750 is probably the best overall for nitro. With the 1.31 firmware, its very easy to setup and flies superb on the defaults. The governor is to die for on the 750, especially if you run an OS motor with a backplate that accepts the BPS-1 sensor (also from Fut). It keeps the engine rpm absolutely pinned. Also the integration of the governor with the rest of the unit is really good (eg. it'll adjust throttle for both left and right piros, cooperates with the tail in general, etc.)

I've flown a Vbar (also a superb flyer) but only with an outboard (GY701) governor. Last I recall there was some problem with the built-in governor in the latest firmware. You had to nurse it at spoolup to keep it from going bonkers, but I don't remember the details.

And speaking of the GY701, it's a great outboard governor to use with other FBL units like the Beast. I ran one of my 700N's that way for a long time with good results.

But best bang/buck for nitro is IMO the 750....

My preference is Vbar for all my helis across the board. Without even considering the flight characteristics Vbar wins hands down with event logging, bank switching, and blue tooth capabilities. I will say the CGY gov does perform excellent right from initial setup.

I have to agree with the CGY-750. Been using it now for a while on my 600 and it works flawlessly.

Set up is easy for a novice, or enough versatility for a seasoned veteran. What I like the most about it is you don't need anything else at the field to make changes like with some other units that need either a laptop or field programmer. Everything you need is already on the 750.

Governor is top notch too!

If it ain't broke, go fly some more!

Sensor this and sensor that!
FBL units do not install new sensors or up grade old sensors in everyone's heli with every upgrade. They change the algorithm in the program, along with the variables that you are allowed to tweak. And BAM, you here this issue and that issue went away.

With that out of the way. Mikado has been around the longest, but Ikon, Skookum, BeastX, Align 3gx, and futaba 750 are hot on there trail. I've only tried three units, but other than the Align 3G, none like to be hard mounted. Using the right tape is night and day when it comes to Nitros.

Other than the BeastX and Futaba 750 you are going to need a computer.

From my experience the BeastX works well, but feels a bit mechanical for me.

I have run the Align 3g, the Align 3gx and the MsHeli Brain... The Brain is much better and reliable... But I have a V-Bar Silverline that I might replace the Brain..due to the poor governor performance of the Brain.. I do like the multiple flight modes available with the Brain..

Used Beastx and CGY-750. Used the beast for years. Had the chance to use a CGY-750 and I am mad that I did not do it sooner. It flys like a champ. It does very well in the Nitro. Also have it in Electric as well. Both are 700 size helis. I dont think you would be disappointed with it in your nitro.

Huge plus with the CGY-750, it has a built in governor and does a great job!

wow, gee I didn't think this was such a hot topic
Ive got Ikon and BeastX. Both perform flawlessly so far. Trex600N w OS55

The Beastx soes not like to be soft mounted No really do not use any gel type or think tape to mount this. Thin 3m tale or a thin double sided foam pad work best. The foam pad that came with the beastx was to softly mounted, and the heli would oftem just tip to the front right by itself (vibrations)

Getting it nounted right will make a world of difference.
I used the same idea with the Ikon. Thin tape or think foam.
I then put a strap over it to hold it lightly.

I like the external led feature of the SK's particularly on my Nitros since I install them up in front under the canopy. Handy little feature...came in handy on my turbine as well. Nice to be able to verify the status of the controller.
