Auction Info...
All I know is that I am running in slo-mo this morning.. what a great time.. Darrell number 13 is now in the books, and I am already looking forward to number 14.. great job!!!

The auction has been mentioned in a few of the other posts, and I have been trying to figure out what to write about it that would give everyone a good idea of who it was from and what was decided to do with the funds raised.
First, when I got there Friday morning, I noticed a lot of fuselages and boxes under the canopy at show center... a bit later Darrell brought me a letter that he said was for me.. as I read the letter, a lot of mixed emotions ran through my head... it was from a fellow scale modeler and extremely talented builder, that after several "not so pleasant experiences" (putting it very mildly), had chosen to leave the hobby...
In my book, this was a major loss for the scale community, but those that contributed to his loss of interest/passion know who you are, and I hope that you all learn that someone trying to understand and learn by asking questions, and then turning it around and taking the time to create posts and videos from the info that he acquired so as to help others is NOT A BAD THING... Somehow, I do not see where he had done anything to be treated as he was..
After reading the letter, and understanding that he wanted to send just about everything he had that was related to the hobby to me to do with what I thought was best(I cannot explain how I felt about him choosing me to do this!!)... after some discussion with Darrell and a couple of others that were friends with David, we chose to hold an auction, and donate the funds to a group that really deserves any and all the assistance they can possibly get.. to that end, the Wounded Warriors Project was selected...
Well, with all of that said... on Saturday afternoon, we all took a break from the flying and gathered at show center, and the auction began... when it was over, a total of $5,855.00 had been raised(a BIG THANK YOU to all for your generosity).. These funds will be sent this week by Darrell in a donation under the name of David Lyons (known here as flynlyons2).. somehow, this helped to make his donations to our hobby, feel as if he was still able to do something good, which is all he was ever about.
Thank You to all that made this a large success... Stan

Wow, that was a nice chunk of change that was raised for the wounded warrior project! Sorry to hear the circumstances surrounding it... We scale guys are a small group overall and even the loss of one member hurts the family. IMHO, I think that you were selected because you (and others in here) are a true ambassador to this hobby and this forum. You live, eat, breathe scale machines and you help anyone that asks. When I first got into scalers, you helped me and you are still a source of great info to me... Nuff said...

All helis and planes have an expiration date stamped on them...you only find it after you crash!!

I am very sorry to here David Lyons is truly "out" of the hobby.
I had a several correspondences with David during his EC135 and
especially his EC145 builds. I am very sorry to here his hiatus
is permanent. As a 40 year modeler, 10 year heli flyer, but only a few year scale heli modeler, I also am a relative "newbie" to the
scale heli world. David's builds, pics and videos were very informative for me and I looked forward to his progress on each of
his builds as I applied them to my own Lakota build. Unlike David,
I am like the many who follow every thread on each of the scale forums, but quietly sit back and absorb all the information and
apply what is learned to our own builds as we ease ourselves into
the hobby limelight to avoid the immediate attention/scrutiny/etc. he may have drawn. I truly wish I had been at the auction, because I would have been proud to have obtained a couple of his builds, no matter what the price! Getting back to the Dalton pics...pardon my newbie ignorance, but I gotta know who owns the Nightingale EC145!? , He just created a lot more work for myself! I'd love to see more of his pics!

Stan, Great post. You did a fantastic job on the auction and and it was for a good cause. I'm sure David will be happy.

Thanks again for all of your help. I know that part of this event is to help others out but you went above and beyond putting the "Stan Magic" into so many transmitters and then explaining the changes you made.

It was great to see you fly the 47 and the Cobra especially the night flight with the moon in the background!

Have a safe trip home.

So many folks to thank...

Darrell, thank you for a very fun and relaxing event and for your southern hospitality!

Eric and Joe, thank you for the great food on Friday and Saturday! (I got into town too late for the barbecue on Thursday ).

Bill, thank you for all your help with tweaking my Bell 430. It is truly appreciated.

Cliff, thanks to you and your crew for bringing the RC Aerodyne scale ships to the event. They were a sight to behold on the ground and in the air!

And thanks to everyone for making me feel right at home.
