This really pisses me off.. Flying over any crowd is completely irresponsible.. If this kind of idiot behavior continues, the FAA is going to go after the recreational people as well..

.
I don't' believe that the FAA wants to "restrict" us to anything more than we're doing right now - recreational flying at a designated field within unaided eyesight distance following our current safety rules.
.
What they WILL need to regulate is dumazzes like that one.

+1, Mr Bergen...
+1. Ever watch the Flintstones growing up? Funny when you look at most drivers today you see Fred, but hear Barney.

It seems to me that regulating our hobby has some things in common with gun control. You can try and control gun violence with regulations requiring strict licensing but the only ones that will turn in or register their guns, are the people that are law abiding in the first place. Making regulations for people that already comply with all other regulations is both sell fulfilling and self defeating. New laws for both people that are already law abiding, and those that don't comply with the law, doesn't make sense to me - if that's not the definition of a circular argument I don't know what is.

Regulations to legistrate how we fly our models will only be followed by the most conscientious, safe and talented hobbyists. They don't need a government to tell them not to do unwise things in the first place. It's the people doing dumb stuff now, at a time with few regulations, that will simply keep doing what they've always done - regulations or not.

Go ahead and make a new law prohibiting flying over a large crowd. I wouldn't have in the first place and the people that are doing it now, will continue to do so. A new law for people that didn't need it and for those that don't follow the law...

As dad always said, "You can't cure stupid" or "Nothing is fool proof because fools are ingenious."

"Well, Nothing bad can happen now."

No. I fly on my own property (country) or over open fields. Never over people, buildings, or automobiles (moving or parked).

I think about the hereafter. I go somewhere to get something, then wonder what I'm here after ?

As an AMA member, with permission, any field I fly at is an AMA field. What's the point?
