Looks good but not really "Super Scale". I've been asking RCA to send me actual photos of the SS Jayhawk for quite some time and never got it. Glad you posted these photos. I see in their site that the AH-1W is in stock, I will probably pick that up.

How des she fly and how's the cockpit detail?

I agree, looks good but how can you call something super scale when the fuselage isn't even correct. I wish manufactures would pay a bit more attention to detail, especially for the price they are asking. Rant over, glad to see that interiors are finally being considered. Congrats Donnie on the new build.

Chris

I don't always fly helis, but when I do I prefer to fly scale.

Looks nice and stable, congrats. What's your set up? Batts, motor and head speed.

tuning on the hawk
Got another flight on the Jayhawk. Lowered the head speed to 1300rpm it's better may try to drop it another 50rpm or so. Trying to get 8 minutes with 20% left on batteries.
As to the "super scale" name I am not sure how I feel about that. On one hand this fuselage is not exact scale they started with a Blackhawk and moved the tail wheel forward and put a coast guard paint scheme on it. they do not include the drop tanks that to me makes the Jayhawk.
But that being said for the price if you consider it comes with the mechanics, 4 bladed head and tail rotor and carbon fiber blades. If you take the cost of that out of the price of the kit then compare it to other prepainted fuselages on the market its not a bad deal.
For the people who expect all the rivits to be in the correct place and size and to have all the little details pre built and included This kit is not for you. But for the others who want a good looking machine that when people look at they know what it is and they don't have the time or desire to detail and paint it themselves this is an option.
I plan on making the drop tanks and a few of the other details to make it look more like the Jayhawk if anyone wants some of them let me know I will keep the molds so I can make more of them.

Great looking Hawk Donnie! I have been sending Cliff emails requesting to know when/if they will offer these doghouse mounted mechs for sale outside of the super scale kits, but have not received any replies so far. Do you have any idea if they are planning to sell these mechs seperately? I'd like to try them in my 700 size Bell 407 project.

I agree Donnie, the drop tanks are a must for the Jayhawk.

Not sure if the mechanics will be offered separately or not.
Cliff is out of town so I cant ask him till next week.
I think RCA has replacement parts for the mechanics so I would think they would be available.
You can give Robert at RCA a call and ask him.

Ive been saying this for a while. They know this jayhawk is not scale. That's why they are throwing in fbl controller and haven't posted pics. No radar, no drop tanks.. It's a Blackhawk painted like a jayhawk. So disappointing.
