wanna fly over people? have to be safer than the form available.

this one is too easy. Take a life saver ring of styrene or make your own shroud and cf rod attach it to the quad in the center. It falls, it don't hurt, blades are shrouded on the edges. A good 4 inches all around and round.

Anyone could do this and most cheap consumer quads have a shroud on them, so what's stopping the ap dudes? Naked's cool, right, naked blades mon, cut.

think about it. It may be mandatory to shroud the ap ship in the near future. I could make and sell something no probs, anyhow.

Helps with stability, lol.

You're kidding, right ?? Maybe you would like to volunteer as a "test subject" that gets hit ??

All kidding aside, simple rule..... DON'T FLY OVER CROWDS OF PEOPLE WITH ANY AIRCRAFT, PERIOD......

Been there, done that and old enough to know better.....

no, and if I designed it I would be a test subject, it wouldn't hurt a bit.

Due to the value of IP I'm not showing ANYONE my ideas. I'm a victim of IP theft so you'll all have to wait for the day.

A friend of mine has challenged me to some ap work in moderate to high winds, where a heli rules the skies, or does the quad/octo? you tell me. I can run a new topic in the ap forum about this.

The major problem your going to have is weight. Just a little weight will cause us to loose a minute of flight time. Every minute counts.

Someone tried to do this already, and the failed measurable because of the weight.

The other issue is that it is not only the props, but the weight of the machine is going to really heart. Try to let 10lbs of camera equipment hit you in your head.

The best answer here is "DO NOT FLY OVER CROWDS".

picked up some very light density packing styrene foam today. I'd venture to guess a protection ring to add not more than another battery worth, maybe quarter pound. of weight. Achk, there's a lot to come. You'd want these multi rotors to lift a popcan size cam of about 2/3lbs comfortably.

A 10lb rig should not be flown over people however, flying on the perimeter of a crowd could send a quad into them if the quad goes down on an angle.

It's ok, do what you do, it won't change anything right now. I can't go into details but I can hope to get some ideas off paper and into the real world as a product line. It'll be slow going for now because of time and money. This is where little guys falter because they spend years perfecting ideas and them some ahowle big shyt comes along and cops the perfected idea with his big factory and lots of starving people waiting to be put to use, whatz the bottom line? You know about all those brand name bootleg bags, shoes, and accessories, ah so? It's a cheating world out there and patents only protect those who abide by its rule. I've seen guys rip someone for the smallest advantage, and I'm not talking about asians either. We got problems, and no one wins.

wait around, maybe the dream can come true, maybe. I know I want a rig that's safe and fun to fly where and whenever doing ap, so do everyone else.

A quarter of a pound takes out two minutes of flight time. I am at the point of adding another batter gains me nothing in time.

A quad will go straight down if it has an issue. A hex or above will go sideways. This is all from experience.

At the very least, there is some degree of recovery with the use of a heli (autorotation).

As long as the bolt in the blade grip does not snap. I had that happen once, and that was one of my worst crashes ever. :-(

Mr. Doran,

In general, I imagine is it suffice to say there is greater measurable safety with a heli than a multi-rotor when it comes to an autorotation.

Not over a crowed it is. Neither solution is good to fly over a crowed. And a little bit of foam around the blades will not help.

My previous posts express identical logic.

My suggestion was a heli can autorotate and a mult-copter cannot.
