find a friend who likes to fly heli's or find someone who would like you to teach them how to fly a heli. I find myself not wanting to go to the field in the morning when I don't think anyone else will be there. Half the fun is gabbing while there. That never gets old.

You know all about it...don't you?
If I have my math correct, you have aged almost 30 years also.

I don't loose interest but I don't have my fellow flyers anymore. There are always new beginners though. Almost all the old flyers (not too old actually. They are for 2-4 years in this hobby) have lost their interest and they have all together migrated to motorbikes . Now they drive their new cross motors near in our field. Sometimes they come to me to have a little chat.

I don't loose my interest but I wish I could have more time to fly.

I have multiple hobbies. And also fly multiple platforms. Get tired of one...just fly or do something else. Everything eventually gets old...and the old eventually becomes new again.

Big repeating circle until they stick us in the ground...and even that's a big repeating circle.

Wow..I leave for a weekend and get all this insight...gotta love RR.

well I read through all you guys responses, plenty of ideas and lots of personnal experiences.

So, with three of my flying buds gone (one deployed, one with a change of duty station to Alaska, the other also change of duty station) all I have left are the plankler guys at the field. Its OK, but not the same. heli guys in the Killeen area are a highly endangered species...sad realy considering that there are alot of soldiers here with lots of disposable income, but rather they blow it at the strip club, booze and anything rice burner related.

so like Blanka and taylor say...flying alone sucks.

But I have noticed that when I find an issue with the heli (like Turbo said) I tend to start firing on all 8 and get to work to exploring the better solution.

I also like Rajas sheer devotion to the hobby...so maybe I just need to get out there and gear up with stuff that would make my day out there enjoyable...like a cooler with drink and snacks, shade and make a day out of it...

I do have other hobbies like the machining, electronics, woodworking...but none have the same feeling (when I have it) of flight...I cant make a cabinet do huricanes, or a model steam engine do a cuban 8 or a PIC based transceiver run FSK do an inverted funnel...

now if I could only get my boy to drop the idevices and pick up a TX...and go with me. instead of the usual sigh, rolling growl, eye roll and sudden drunken floppy walk to the car - field.

but keep them comming...all good responses and great support as always...
showing a preference will only get you into trouble, 90% of everything is crap...

WOAH! Ram, I never thought this could happen. Either way, since I have moved to Alaska I have been out flying twice... yah, so I wouldn't say I have lost interest but I have not had flying helis as my priority. I hardly even look on RR every other day if I'm lucky.

That being said, the two times I have been out, I have enjoyed it to the fullest extent. My heli hobby has evolved over time from having 7 or 8 helis and boxes and boxes of parts to a semi-recent slice in the fleet to now only having three helis (1 nitro, 1 gas, and one electric) with a fourth in a box for a winter build and very few parts on hand.

I basically went from a tinkerer/builder to a flyer.

I'm with the others that say to sell/reduce and/or put it on the sideline or shelf for a bit and it will come back.

p.s. try getting a different airframe or brand than what you have now

went out for a fly...
So I dusted off one of my Predators and my HWC 600 and went out this morning for what I though would be a nice quick one tank for each fly....
Boy was I wrong.......LOL
I flew the predator 3 full tanks and landed my 4th with about 1/4 left.
My HWC flew for 4 full tanks before I called it a day...
So I flew this morning since about 6-ish A.M. till a few minutes ago... That sure was a quick flight....Bahahaha

I had forgotten how long that Predator flies for when you are just sport flying it....LOL

Ok... Would like to say that..... Yes, some time off sure helps relite that flame....
YES... YoU puLL stART ! ~~~~ NO... it's NoT a FREAKN' Nitro !

I do it all the time, I'll fly one thing for a while then jump to something else, last year I got a 700 gasser all ready to start the build and got cold feet and sold it all for what I had in it. Toxic engine and all. I started into multi-rotors heavy and in fact became my job when I retired. And found out that old saying is true, don't make your hobby for job because you'll ruin it.. TRUE! But I'm back into helis now, and a new gasser is on my list of - to do's.

RM, as you are not flying, say just watching TV or having lunch, what you need to do is start thinking of what would be going on with your heli if it was in a slower flight, what the servos would be doing, what the swash and washout would be doing, tail rotor operating, what the pitch of the blades would be like and how cool it looks,, all as in a slower lazy flight,,

see, we all usually just zip around doing acrobatics, and while zipping around doing acrobatics is fun your mind is very focused, at that we real don't get the time to think and appreciate the gracefulness of the heli and what is going on with the mechanics, so just try placing your heli in you mind, in a lazy flight and think about what's going on with it in flight

cause NOTHING is cooler than a helicopter in flight, or on the ground

that should get your goat up to fly again
