Finally It is almost done...
Finally after 25 years of storage and 1 year of parts search here and on ebay, I got my my first heli, a Kalt Baron 20, in flight condition and with 90% of the configuration I used to have when I started.

I got Futaba S5101 servos, JR NEJ120 mechanical gyro, OS32F-H, Heloball. The only different things are the receiver which is now Spektrum and the ball links that are Rocket City (I couldn't find Kalt ones in reasonable condition..)

All the rest is as original as possible....

I will try to make a short movie of the first flight after rebuild...

Thank you for all that helped.... Specially Simon for the canopy!!

Truly a thing of beauty! The Baron 20 was my first heli too. I have finally acquired all of the components to complete mine as I had first configured it. Now all I need is the time to put it together.

Thank you for sharing.

Nice. If the belt grabs when you try to start it, put a few drops of oil on it.Part 107.

I too learned on the Baron20. I sold it to fund my next heli, a GMP Cobra. A few years later, I picked up a Baron30 which I have kept "vintage" and in flying condition. A very smooth flying machine but definitely NO 3D.

Nice job on the restore!

Thank you all for your comments. I know that this section of the forum is dedicated to people that, like me, enjoy historical pieces to be kept under their original working state!!

I just couldn't wait until going to the flying field so I fired it up at the front yard just to see if it was working... and was perfect.. here is a short video for the very first hover....

Watch at YouTube

Next step is to fine tune the Revo Mix so the tail will be as good as a head lock gyro hehehehehe

Cheers!!

Congrats, I still have 2 of these. One being my very first Heli that I bought 30 years ago and she is still flying.

The 2nd I have built from my stock of spare parts and is now being used on a scale Bell 222UT project. I have modified the rotorhead so she is also now flybarless and looking very scale indeed.

I still have plenty of spares for both machines should the need arise.

Enjoy flying this one !

That sure brings back good memories. I had new and kept until I gave almost 3 complete helis to a friend wanting to learn. Had a .40 in one. Please bring to IRCHA next year to fly and display in our tent. Mark Wilson, Vintage Helicopter Association.
