I have 2 nitro Raptor 50's, one of which i learned on. Although they've pretty much been collecting dust since i went Gas, they still hold a place in my heart and i couldn't really see being without one. If the other heli pilot in my club brings a nitro machine down i find myself getting excited at the smell of the nitro when he fires it up and i love the smoke trail they leave. Makes me kinda wish I'd brought mine down- but then i walk to the flight line with my transmitter and gasser-heli, give the recoil a few quick pulls and enjoy a smooth 30min flight for literally pennies in fuel cost with no cleanup, and i remember why i went gas..

Yep...I feel ya.

What people just can't get through their skulls is that nitro guys don't like nitro because of the cost of fuel.
They're not interested in the higher horsepower and crazy head speeds.
The mess or lack of it with electric is not part of the choice.

None of the ridiculous arguments made by the electric fans are relevant. Not in any way, shape nor form. Maybe to the E guys.lol...

Nitro guys like nitro because it's nitro. Period.

Obviously, Mark, your sporting serious video gear. I can only imagine how the video looks when you first download it and view on your computer. I can only imagine how much loss of resolution happens to see it how we do. It's danged hard to transfer files from the camera to a computer and out the web without significant loss of quality.

I like my electric helis, but charging batteries is a hassle. I like just putting more fuel in my Nitro and fly again! And again! I can spend $30 a week on nitro fuel and my wife says nothing. But if once a year I have to pay $300 on new batteries, she'll squawk about that.
I have been flying nitro planks for years so it is no trouble at all for me to tune the needle valves. On any given day I might have to give them 1/8 turn and the engine runs great the rest of the day.
What mess? I don't do hard 3D so maybe after 10 - 15 flights I may take a rag and cleaner to the bird. Mostly to get bug juice off the mains and grass stains off the TR. Not like my planks which get very oily and require post flight cleaning every time.
Nothing better than the sound of a screaming nitro engine! It sounds like it means business! I love the smell of nitro smoke!

I guess im probably a little more OCD than most are krashcopter lol.. I will put my machine on the bench after every flying session and go over every inch of it, cleaning and adjusting. I then charge my batteries and put it back in its spot in the room i store them in, all clean like new and ready to go to the field the next time. As far as the cost of nitro- a $30 gallon will only get me 2 days of flying in, not a week unfortunately:-( Honestly if i bring my field charger i can burn through a gallon in a single day through my Redline.53 in my Raptor50 I Love to fly my helis and its what i go to the field to do- so fly i do. This was one of the deciding factors in my switching to gas- i simply flew Too much to justify continuing with nitro- even though i love all things Nitro and have been an adict for years with my planes. I went through 13gallons the beginning of this season and started on #14 while i was building my gasser. I still keep a gallon on hand and my trusty Rappy is spit polished and tuned when the mood strikes

Another convert to electric at our field today, that's two in a month.

After he maidened his new Logo 500 SE...his first comment was SWEET...I'm selling my TRexx 600N and buying a Logo 550 SX also.

The only nitro left, at our field, is a guy that doesn't come around so often.
I used to love the sound of loud exhaust on my cars, boats, motorcycles, heli...but now - the sounds of silence and the blades popping in the air is all I want to hear...LOVE IT!
