Which flybarless unit do you have now?

I own Vbar and swear by it, but from the looks of the Vortex flying it is visually impressive with the sudden stops (no wobbles or shakes) and consistent pirouettes. I would love to experiment with various units to compare, but not in my budget. Take care.

I'm in the same boat Sam. Would love to try them all but can't.

Certainly, someone has tried both. Anyone?

I have been flying the vortex for five months now and the one thing that beat the vbar hands down is having the datapod you can make changes during your flight just land plug in the pod make your change and take off. The vbar is a outstanding unit but having to use a laptop does become annoying if you are trying to get your setup just right. Also with the release of firmware 2.0 the vortex went from great to awesome the only thing that still needs to be done on the vortex is the e governor which should be in the next firmware release.

Hi, Wesley. Have you used the Vbar control panel? And I can make changes to Vbar via bluetooth with my phone app - nothing to connect, and still flying in the air.

I'm not knocking the Vortex, only making a little correction.

You can't say the Spartan is cheaper. The Spartan with Data pod is $375. Full size VBAR with programmer is $399. Mini VBAR with programmer is only $269. Even adding the pro software on the Mini is still the least expensive and the full size isn't much off.

The mini v-bar is cheaper for a reason the silver line is the flapship on the v-bar line for a reason, if you only fly electric the mini is fine but no nitro I have seen has had a mini so it's a one trick pony unlike the vortex which works in everything.

VBARs POD aka Control Panel

Did you forget about the Control panel that can do the same thing "plug in the control panel make your change and take off"

Also don't forget Vbar's Bank Switching which a pilot can make changes literally "ON THE FLY" without landing.

People still fly nitros? How about that. I'd argue that it's nice to have the option of a less expensive smaller unit that will work in any electric or a larger 2 box solution for Nitro and Gas.

In my opinion, the Spartan is a failure just due to cost. It is too expensive and offers no really compelling reason for people to buy it over already established units that do the same thing. If it were $250, then sure, give it a shot, but at the current price it doesn't do anything more than the SK540, Ikon or vBar, all of which are excellent units with the same capabilities. If they want to compete, then give us a compelling reason to try your product. Put self level in it like the HC-3SX with a governor and you've got a product worth looking at, or drop the price $100. Until then, why bother learning a new box for more money and no gain?

I don't want this to start going sideways I have flown v-bar, beastx, and now vortex I have done setup help on heli command what this is not about is trashing one product over another but choices, For some self leveling is a important thing for me it's not if you like one product over another that's fine but don't feel like it's your job to rain on someones else parade.

It's not raining on anyone's parade. What compelling feature does the Spartan have over a Vbar, Ikon, or Skookum to justify the price? Other than the Helicommand/Bavarian Demon it is the most expensive unit on the market. That unit had unique features, what does the Spartan have?

For you features are the main issue for me it's the feel of the unit in flight the ease of setup and adjustment for my flying style, cost is a individual choice base on many factors.

Did not know that, WOW.

The price point is $250. V-bar is more.. But they are playing king of the hill, so they say.

Understand, the spartan is in BETA testing as far as I'm concerned. I know people who are wiling to try a new system at a price....and the vortex exceeds that. The Vortex needs to prove itself. I personally don't know anyone flying it.

big deal. I'm sure he didn't pay $$$$$$ for the unit.

Like I said, quote"I do not know anyone flying the system"Unquote. Period. End of story.

And I don't know of one manufacturer who hasn't update the first version aka beta.

Take a course in economics and one in marketing until then, re-read my previous thread. I feel like you missed something.

PS I've was tossed off of helifreak for disagreeing with will James BS aka being right..

Have a nice day and let us know how the unit is working out for you.

I agree, any FBL system coming to the market now has to be either cheap to get buy in from those who just care a out price or a game changer. IMO the Vortex is neither so why would you want to try a FBL system that is (1) new and still has bugs (2) does not offer a significant level of performance increase?
