It needs a giant cogged belt like used on the Banshee (or on a Harley Davidson).

It was quite heavy
Due to its weight is going to be in a bigger gasser which would mean the power would be taken up by the mass off the bigger machine.

As always, 700 class seems to be the best for 3D, this I'm thinking is going to be more of a cruiser or a nice scale application.

Nobody associated with GAUI would comment but in my opinion its not for a traditional helicopter at all

all of the MR folks are now looking for ways to extend flight time significantly. With a factory generator, clearly they intend for it to run for extended time periods

The Stingray has opened up the centrally powered MR so in my opinion it will go into an MR

Doesn't make a lot of sense to put something that big in a traditional helicopter, it would require a large heavy chassis just to support it which takes away from the payload

something that big
Ok thanks...sounds a whole lot bigger than what one can deduce from photos.

So for those of us that have never seen one in person, are we talking as large as an 50cc or 80cc gasser or much larger?

I think Carey's prediction is right, but how does a multirotor which uses variable pitch propellers (like the stingray) deal with yaw if all of the rotor blades are being driven at the same speed by a centrally located motor?Avant RC

I think that it is great that a big heli maker, like Gaui, is willing to develop its own heli engines.
I really doubt it, GAUI is a little company in comparison to ALIGN those engines are made by other company.
GAUI 37HZ nitro is made by OS japan.
If we want to see a new kind of heli then it is first necesary to have a new kind of heli engine.
I have in mind a large fuselage for this engine...
it's a great engine for any warbird plankers will love it if price is not as much as the KOLM engine ones, just remove the cluth and install a prop.

I guess it's safe to assume that a 4-stroke motor like this still requires 2-stroke fuel (i.e. gas with the oil mixed in)?Avant RC

^^^You really think that's a stupid question? Because a similar-sized Honda 50cc 4-stroke motor has a sump for oil and runs on straight gasoline. So it would not be unheard of if this 50cc Gaui 4-stroke did the same, althought I highly doubt it since it looks to me like a scaled up 4-stroke glow motor.Avant RC

Just maidened my home made 34cc 4 stroke Shindaiwa powered heli a month ago. Has plenty of torque, can fly for a half hour on a tank, and is about as quiet as an electric. Plan on using it for AP. Runs on 50:1 mix.

Was it heavier than RC format engines? I think they are 2.1kg.
