I Recently bought an entire new setup. Never mind the rest, the esc was a CC pheonix ice 2 hv lite. I powered it up for he first time, got into a hover, did a figure eight and as it was coming back to me it cut out, ok no problem, dead sticked it. Caught a blade and damaged it. Damn. A second later the esc "burst" yes Burst into flames. Every connections to the motor, the batteries, y harness are fine. The esc was essentially un recognisable. I had to put it out with a my shirt. Has this happened to anyone. WTF happened? Is this known to happen to CC products? Very un unimpressed.

It was programmed correctly and at the end of the day the esc has a failsafe which should render it impossible for this to happen. Any suggestions besides bringing it back to the dealer and or contacting CC directly? More to the point has this happened to anyone? I don't mind buying a 450 dollar YGE if CC crap does this regularly.

Thanks in advance

Devin

How long were your battery connections? Had you looked to see how much ripple was on your logs? High ripple was the issue with the castles, and a faulty component on the board. I use a Capacitor pack to prevent the issue on my bigger Castle ESC's. Sorry for your loss due to castle creamations.

Thanks
Thanks at least I got it out with my shirt. It was un recognisable as a speed controller so doing any diagnostics was a non issue.

I just got a YGE 160 HV and flew yesterday and holy %&^*&% these electrics are stupid powerful. (First electric I WAS a nitro guy. WAS. )

Not advertising but Nick De Biase From ND Heli here in Quebec set me right up and took back the burnt esc no questions asked and got me on the road again in a day as it happened on my maiden flight! so I never got to really fly her! and many thanks to him. Great guy.

And may I add anyone thinking of the YGE. Its governor mode is ridonkulous. Worth the money.

ESCs that catch fire and batteries that don't last are still problems with electric helis. The CC ICE 80HV in my Logo 600 turned into a torch at startup recently. Sure CC will replace it, but it caused $350 in other damage not counting the ESC. Castle needs to do a better job!
