That was the catchphrase for a BBC children's program called 'Blue Peter', the presenter would hash out the process of making something and as it was falling apart, would drag out a perfect example from below the work bench and utter those famous words.

Unfortunately, I had no such items under the bench so here are the ones I did make from scratch for my CH53E L/G.

They started off as normal 28mm aircraft wheels for mounting on piano wire and after about 5 hours of milling and cursing they got to this stage. The screws are 1.6mm spectacle frame screws and for me are damned near invisible, especially when you tip the box onto the carpet!

A session on the lathe with a dreadnought file and some diamond paper followed by a tool made from an old hacksaw blade and these is what you are left with.

They look as though they have been running on the roughest asphalt runway in the world!

Now to make a 'Goodyear Aviation' molding stamp for the side, as if!

they were a box of 1,000 spectacle screws from here.

100 of each size in 1.2mm thread from 1.6mm to 6mm long.

Love the wheels & have clicked on the link for the screws - £2.51 for a box of 1000 is ideal but £50 postage..??
