On the G4 with no header tank, mixed flying with high and low headspeeds and 4 or 5 auto's at the end of the tank produces a 11 to 12 minute flight. The 3DS will give about two minutes longer under the same conditions.

I would estimate that the Tareq would have around 9 minute duration flying it hard at 1950 headspeed, with no autos.

That's what I am using on my Tareq. Hatori advises there isn't much difference between the SB19 and the recommended pipe for the Tareq. It seems to work just fine.

I just blew up my 1.20 today for the 3rd time, it was great while it lasted but, I'm ready to try the new 91srx, where can I purchase the matching muffler for it, I can't seem to find it anywhere? Also, are y'all using Cool Power 30% and stock shims in the engine? One more, how well will the Hatorie 1.20 muffler work compaired to the recommended muffler.

Thanks,
Pete G

After dozens of flights with the Tareq in a G4, here is my opinion.

BTW, I am using 30% CP and have tried 20% CP which the Tareq did not like at all.

The Tareq works well at higher headspeeds, i.e., 1950. Most of my flying is at 1650 and I do not believe that there is any advantage over a 3DS engine at that RPM. In fact, the Tareq loses 2 - 3 minutes per flight compared to the 3DS at that headspeed with no power advantage.

At 1950 and properly tuned, the Tareq is very powerful. The trouble is that 90% of my flying is at lower headspeeds.

The Tareq is ported/tuned for lots of power at higher headspeeds. If this is what you are looking for, this is the one you want.

If you want long flight times with smooth, easy to tune, lower headspeeds, look toward the SR or 3DS.

Are we talking 1950 HS with a 8.2 to 1 gear ratio?

Good question. Headspeeds are useless without gear ratios. I think the G4 has a ratio of 8.0 to 1.

Sorry for the useless info. G4 has a 7.92 ratio.

Cheers Bob. Didn't intend to sound rude. Sorry mate. Have you tried it at around 2000 on the head with the G4?

YS 91SRX
I ran a gallon of Cool Power 30% heli with an O.S. #8 glow plug this past weekend through this engine and all I can say is wow. I'm flying a Trex-700N with a 8.0 to 1 gear ratio at 1950 head speed and a Hatori SB-23FH pipe. At about the 4th tank I really started to push a little bit flying. The motor was pulling strong and created a smooth smoke trail through out the whole flight. Just wanted to share some info.

Thanks,
Peter G

Mine is for sale.

No dispute regarding the power.

YS 91SRX tuned for high rpm
BobC,
You are correct in your observation - matches mine completely. I'm using the SRX (Tareq) with the Hatori pipe for the 120SR. At higher head speed this motor really sings, but if you take it out of the power band (on my Rave 1950 to 1850) the motor loses all it's punch.

It most definitely is tuned for higher RPM and corresponding higher head speeds. The SR and 3DS motors are much more suitable for higher gearing and/or lower head speeds.

Nevertheless - the the Tareq 91 is very easy to tune - completely unlike the 120SR and I'm quite pleased with it.

Those of you liking lower head speeds may find some sweet deals on 3DS motors - some local hobby shops are carrying leftovers.
