Hi Everyone,
Starting a thread to see how much you love your NX4.

I have +380 flights on my NX4 since the first production in Nov, 2012.
(8) crashes till this date. No dump thump just mechanical issues. Here is the replacement list: (2) main gears, (2) tail autorotation gears, (4) tail gears, (4) main shafts, (2) tail shafts, (2) tail sliding controls, (2) tail control arms, (2) tail shafts, (4) sets of FBL main blades, (3) sets of plastic tail blades, (4) tail booms, (3) rpm governors, (2) bell mounts, (3) bell liners, (3) OS 27 motors (first one, engine case cracked caused by muffler: second one, case cracked caused by broken piston rod. Third one is still going strong.) Main frame is still the same with a lot of cuts/patches.

Will show here in future all modifications that you can do with very little costs.

Please keep the thread rolling. Thanks, VNDO

I have about 40 flights and I am hoping to work through an engine issue this weekend.

I have had 1 major crash(engine almost died, I crashed and then the chicken dance started) and 1 hard landing from my engine issue.

Parts replaced:

3 clutch bells
2 clutches
2 main gears
1 tail sliding control
5 sets of tail blades
1 set of main blades
1 torque tube drive gear set
1 starter shaft
1 tail control arm
2 sets of landing gear
1 tail boom
replaced all fuel lines and filters
1 main rotor yoke set(defective out of the box)
1 main shaft
1 gear shaft
2 starter shaft bearing mounts and bearings
1 set of dampers
2 clutch fans(I am using the aluminum upgrade now)
1 canopy

I have replaced a few other parts that I cannot remember off the top of my head. I should have bought a second kit for parts. I hate to say this but this model has been giving me nothing but headaches. I am new to nitro but even being new I shouldn't have to constantly work on it. I have a few separate threads out there asking for help.

Sorry to hear the troubles you have from the list of replacement parts,
Wish I can help if you're here. Mine is still going. Did you burn incense to chase away bad luck ?.

32 Flights so far and loving it. Haven't crashed but still working out the bugs

-Replaced tail spindle with Raptor 50 spindle as precaution

-Raptor 50 pitch slider bushing as stock one twisted off as soon
as I put a wrench on it, even with heat, during the build

-New throttle servo at 10 flights. Align 525m died. Wouldn't move off center on its own

-Waiting for new tail servo as on flight 32 started getting tail wag and by the time I landed the 525M was dead at center just like the throttle servo. Hoping my 515's hold up on cyclic? Running 2S Life direct

-Currently working on eliminating a resonating type vibration. Have watched others videos and hear it in about half of them. Bobby's doesnt' seem to do it so I'm determined I can eliminate it. Just finished taking the wobble out of my clutch bell and truing it, as well as realigning the clutch. Not sure what else it could be coming from?

-Mainshaft fit loose in the bearings, so locktited that and it's no longer a problem

-Locktited swash bearing in as it was flopping around loose

-New 3x6x2.5 bearings on follower arms and rudder belcrank as they very sloppy from new

-Boom supports came off in flight twice at the frame. They now have red loctite. Red is useful on this bird

Bottom line - its been lots of wrenching so far, but nothing that's really Gaui's fault yet. I think the high level of vibration is hard on stuff and that's causing most of my issues. When it's flying, you can't beat it, and it's such a miser on fuel. Still love it.

How many NX4 flights ?
Hello Kiteman78,

If you that many servos failed, please find out why. I still have align servos on my bird after + 80 flights.

Please check bell mount, if you can move the starting shaft up/down then you must check if the shaft coupling is loosen, redo the set screws or get a new shaft. The bell mount bearings are broken easily, please check and replace them. Those are vibration problems for front mounted gaui vbar. Mount vbar on the back will eliminate the vibration. Thanks

Been through the clutch completely now. It's gotta be where my vibes were coming from.
I've got no play in the start shaft, but the clutch bell had a 15 thou wobble to it. Got that sorted, spent enough time on the alignment to get it perfect, so as soon as the new tail servo gets here I'll give it a go. Everything on the clutch is within 2 thou now.
There were no visible vibes, just an audible resonant vibration at 2700rpm.
Will report back.
