Im curious to know what causes the coil in the Glow plug to move over to one side,i have only had 12 flights on this one still works, the coil is shiny and clean not dry and white as if it was overheating, the engine runs cool, perhaps compression does this.

Yep to lean. The pre detonation messes the coil up.

Wat engine and fuel ?
May need a head shim , that not good after 12 flights .
You not want that coil dropping into engine .

Something has to make the glow plug glow. If you have the glow driver turned up too far, it can distort the plug.

But probably too lean is the answer.

Moisture in the fuel.. (even if its new this can be an iusse)

Also..try a different fuel... (one plug lasts me all seasion)

Your after run oil can also beatup a coil. Make sure you are using stright airtool oil!

The pic is blurred, so I can't tell, but is the element itself just lightly dull grey and even still mostly new looking? If this is the case, look closely at the rear bearing in the motor. If it is bad, it will spit off little bits of metal that beat the coil to death. Especially look for this if the engine has been running fine and without eating plugs for an extended period and with no major changes in needle setting.

Thanx i know what you mean about the bearing breaking up and causing problems, the coil in the plug is shiny and clean with a little black patch at the tip,its just twisted and sort of pushed over to the one side, but still works, the rear SS bearing is like new.
