I put a male deans on the source end, to receive the battery and a female on the load end, to receive the esc. Next I need to make another deans up to fit the meter with EC5's on that adapter.

Get rid the Deans and use Anderson PowerPoles and never worry about gender again.

Not sure what you mean by source end and load end, but as I read it you have it backwards.

The "end" supplying the power should have the female connector. If it's the male connector it can be shorted out by accidentally touching both the (+) and (-) simultaneously.

Now I can test 450 heli battery to esc load. With the deans on each end of the watt's up. I can attach my homemade adapter to the deans, and test esc to rx load, to see if bec is supplying enough power to everything. Or I can plug a servo in between the watts up meter and the rx to make sure it's working right. Now to make one more adapter to adapt upto my EC5 for testing my 500.
