I am going to utilize a crankcase sensor (Spektrum Rev limit sensor SPM6823) for the governor on my 600N, fitted with V-bar blueline. Currently, I am using a magnetic type sensor on the fan with this heli.

I have a 700N, that I have outfitted with both types of sensors; the crankcase sensor I feed to the V-bar (Silverline) and the magnetic sensor I feed to a TM1000, to read RPM's through my DX8 while in flight. What I hate about this setup, is that because the clutch bell isnt always spinning, though the engine may be running, the readout gives me some really weird off-the-chart numbers, when I would like to be able to see what my maximum headspeed was during the flight (min and max readings in the Tx screen).

So if I could do away with the mag sensor, it would be nice to be able to split the signal from the Rev limiter (with a Y adapter) and run half to the gov and half to the TM1000. I would think that this would also keep my RPM numbers in check, even at an idle. Is there any constraints about wiring a sensor this way? Does any of you heli gurus out there run a configuration like this?

I am using the Align sensor with the magnets on the clutch drum. I use a "Y" and send it to my Ar7200R as a gov signal and to my TM1000 to see head speed. Using same setup to run the Multi Gov I put in awhile ago too and quit using the AR7200 setup. I would think it would work? You may have to play with the gear ratio setting though so they both will read correct. That is if you are going to use it as a tach as it makes it sound like you are? Seems like you would set the TM1000 to 1:1 on the gear ratio screen so it would read the engine rpm like a tach does. And than use the gear ration setting in the gov setup to read it like normal.

yes, I've done that exact setup. Split the crank sensor to the TM1000 and to the GOV

This was with the magnetic sensor but I've done the same with crank sensors. works great

The trick here was to only split the sensor wire. I didn't splice in the power feeds to the TM1000

Perfect. Thanks a ton for the info!

I was curious about the power feed so the pics answered my question. Also Curious if I did feed the power and ground if it would be an issue. I'm sure it would "IF" the sensor and TM1000 was powered from different sources. I just hate to cut into my servo/sensor leads, but I'll probably do what you've done there.

It did not work for me until I removed the power lead splicing. The config I have has worked with every sensor and GOV I've tried, though I haven't used a V-Bar.

Yes, the power lead may cause an issue but you already know the fix for that.

Interesting on the power lead issue... I wonder why that is.

Anywho...this helps alot! Again thanks for the info.
