Man what a brain fart,,,I don't fly alot but have been flying my Spectra with the Hanson 29cc Puh alot these days. Every season I fly it it seems to get smoother and more powerful and this year I have been trying to get alot more fuel through it. My old 1005 with the hanson 26cc is so smooth with alot of run time... Anyway I stopped the spectra on the ground ,,and diddled with a few trims to make them equal in different modes,,fine! Went to start it up and check my results and realized at start up I was in stunt mode and was at WOT!! POOP!! Went for the throttle trim first, holding on to the head like mad,,and nothing and went to the stunt mode switch to normal and she went to idle,,,,,too late...smelled like burning brakes!!! I trashed the clutch liner,,,,. Make sure all switches are forward before doing anything!!

The End

Setup is everything, All my heli's can fly far better than I can pilot them

aint it fun to see all that smoke and saw dust just fly out the bottom of the clutch?

bet you looked around to see if anybody saw you huh?

showing a preference will only get you into trouble, 90% of everything is crap...

LOL!! A few did see me...if it was one or a thousand I would have felt the same!! Who knows,,,if no one saw me maybe I wouldn't post LOL!!
Seriously though I haven't had this happened since I had model match from spectrum. My hobby shop has a liner in stock and will install and lathe it to proper specs so all will be good as long as I don't screw up again!! Always check the switches!!

Setup is everything, All my heli's can fly far better than I can pilot them

make sure ur clutch is ok befor u put it back together. with all that heat from the hot start and with age the clutch shoes becom brittle and u run the risk of having one sides sprung or worse break off

it almost happened to me a couple of weeks ago...i installed a new FBL controller and left the throttle servo reversed (after reseting the model in TX)...i did pull-start half a dozen times before realising that the throttle was fully open...thankfully, it didnt fire up...

If you listen carefully
It should have sounded different being pulled wide open than at idle. Another clue to listen for in case it ever happens again in the future hopefully you'll recognize the sound and signal a red flag in your head to stop pulling...
