Okay so my buddy and I re setup my gaui with the new futaba 14sgh and tried doing a throttle calibration. Couldn't get it to work. Went down to 30 on high and low end points and started with throttle high. Went up to 140 and esc did nothing. Anyone using this tx and esc? I have almost gotten to the point that I am fed up with electric and only doing two flights every outing.

castle esc question
Hello! Make sure that your throttle curves in your TX is set to 0 25 50 75 100. Then try doing the throttle calibration again. Let me know if it worked or if you are still having issues.

Make sure you reversed the channel in the radio. Futaba is backwards from JR.

I had a similar problem with a JR 11X, CC Talon 90 and a Helicommand FBL unit, it was indeed very frustrating, then figured out ( with the help of another RR member)I had the Throttle / BEC cable connected to the wrong port on the HC unit. Yes it does help to have everything plugged in correctly.

I would bet it is not an ESC issue, double check your settings in the radio and make sure the throttle / BEC is in the correct slot on the RX, which ever brand.

What a dummy I am. It was throttle reversed. Can't believe I didn't think of that. Thanks all of you.

yep, it was the throttle being normal. It had to be reversed. Chris, I am doing the auto bail out now. A buddy a few hotel rooms down is helping me out.

Did not ring it out. Its not my heli. Just wanted to show you that it sounds good and is working awesome. After that 45 second flight the motor still gets very warm, but the esc was only 110 degrees.

Granted, it is Yuma, AZ but it shouldnt get that hot on the motor. I would keep the helicopter and get a different motor if it bothers you that much. If it where me, I would get a new motor.

I do not have an esc programmer with me so when I give Hondas heli back on saturday I will have him do that. That could be the problem and is easily overlooked. I know you can program the esc without the castle link, but it makes life so much easier when you do have it. I might do it if I get bored and then go fly again.

I have been trying to program the esc by using the transmitter and am about ready to punch the esc. Anyone have a good video on how they navigated the esc with the transmitter?

Thanks

Spend the $$$ and pick up the Phoenix link cable...you can program many more features than are available via the stick, and it only takes a few minutes to do so.
