When out to the field today to put sometime on the Pantera. When I arrived there were several other guys there with helis. I have never seen that many helis at the field. It was kind of nice not being the only one flying a heli. On of the guys, whose name was Stephan, flies for Kontronic and RJX helis. He was surprised that I knew what a RJX heli was. He never saw nor heard of a Pantera. He gave us a nice little 3D show. It scared the sox of all my children. Several of the other club members that had never see 3D done live took several steps back.

Any way after the little show, I put the Pantera up for some nice little circuits with some loops and rolls. Was not even pushing my abilities. Just wanted to get a feel for the heli again since it has been a while with all the rain we have had. About 2:30 into my flight, 2 Fun Clubs went up into the air. They both joined me in the circuits that I was doing. So I thought! All of a sudden, when I made my turn down the landing strip a Fun Cub appeared out of no where. It nearly became Fun Cub dinner. All I saw was my expensive heli going into the ground because a Fun Cub got rapped up in my blades. A few quick movements on the sticks saved the day. Both the Pantera and the Fun Cub will live to see another day. Needless to say I was a little teaked. I finished that circuit and landed. Many other club member commented on what a good job I did to prevent the midair collision. That did not help to put out the fire that was burning inside. This happened because the Fun Cub pilot decided that he did not want to stay in the circuit that the other Fun Cub pilot and I were flying. Is it to much to ask for other who want to join me, fly the same circuit. I don't think so. Needless to say I called my wife over to be a spotter for me so I could land safely.

These Fun Cub pilots, some of them are new pilots, fly those things like they paid $20 for them and don't care what happens to them. Whereas, I paid a pretty penny for the Pantera, Nexus servos, OS 50, CGY-750, Rail blade, etc. and do not want to see it hit the ground because of the stupidity of someone else. It is one thing if I dumb thumb it into the ground vs it going in because of someone else. For an instant, I had visions of the Pantera going in like the Zero on Youtube after hitting a 450 heli.

After this incident, I got several more flights in. The plane guys stayed out of the air.

Nice save! Did the planker talk to you after the incident? How do you and the plankers get along at the field?

The Fun Cub pilot did not say much. He packed his stuff up shortly after the incident. Normally the "plankers" and I get along great. They usually wait to go up until I am down. If I am just flying more patterns, they will fly with me and flow the pattern I am flying. When I put the heli up and do more acrobatics, they will wait till I am done. The day of this incident, the heli guys, for the first time, out number the plane pilots. When I went up with the heli, no one was in the air and no one had been in the air for a period of time. Normally we get along great. Todd
