Wow that is a step in the right direction. I like all the changes exempt they mark it on your drivers licence they you are a concealed weapons carrier. I am a fan of people not knowing if I am carring. That is why it is concelled carry. But good news for the land of Lincoln. Maybe there is hope for NJ.

This subject was one of the debates when Colorado had there concealed carry. When you get pulled over for a traffic ticket, do you tell the cop you have a gun in the car? If there is a mark on your license the police could make you step out of your car or give them a reason to search you or your car. These were the reasons Colorado voted not to have a mark on the drivers license and not to have it in the DMV computer system.

Allows the Department of State Police to object to a license applicant with 5 or more arrests for any reason or 3 or more gang-related arrests within the 7 years preceding the date of application.
Did you see that tidbit in the bill???? So a guy can have at least 2 gang related arrests and STILL get a concealed license??? Yeah, that's brilliant. Nice little poison pill they slipped in there.

Im not trying to start an argument but I kind of think that alot of assumptions are made on both sides."gang related offense" is not a definitive term. The bottom line is that wherever there is a process for a CCW the ultimate determination is made by a specific issueing officer on a case by case basis. There is no one size fits all rule for anything.Unless your a friggin communist.Every case is different. There are far too many variables to eliminate all exceptions to any rule.Thats one of the huge mistakes we are making with every law that is being implemented.
The majority is being led to believe that everyone must be equal and have rules applied completely equally among everyone.I call BS on this attitude.
Its the exact same attitude that leads the ignorant to think that all guns are bad and that noone should be allowed to have any.Every incidence is different and needs to be examined on its own merits by a qualified jurist.
That is one of the biggest mistake we are making in application of law in all areas of our lives. It might be acceptable if we were all robots running standardized programming but thats a whole other can of worms.

true. I'm just saying that little tidbit being in the bill will be the reasoning for a lot of people to vote it down. Just watch. As I said....poison pill.

Gang is like terrorist, its what you call groups you dont like. I am a firm believer that republicans and dems are both gangs. Are you saying they didnt limit concealed carry enough? The 150 dollar fee stinks.
Im too much of a hothead to be running around carrying anyways.

Your probably not a good candidate then.Terrorism has many faces.Combating it with anger rage and hate serves little purpose.
For those that may consider it remember one thing. The evil is very strong now.Standing up and saying "Hey look at me Im a good person"
and making yourself counted is going to have serious consequences down the road.Count on it.The last ditch effort to destroy all that is good and conglomerate the evil forces into one giant happy family will commence shortly.Be prepared.

the thing is 4 days ago if you had a gun outside of your home without it being in a case that was illegal. So even if they are just throwing a bone to appease us then we should take the bone and not let go. There can be further progress.
Im concerned with chicago/cook counties bs where an ar 15 or a pistol over 10 rounds is illegal- its a bs law which has never been enforced so hasnt hit the courts but it is bs.

Not defending the gang related arrest part, but lets remember, arrest is different than conviction. You can be arrested for looking like the person who committed a crime though you had nothing to do with it.

Gun control is like fighting drunk driving by making it harder for sober people to buy cars.

You should ALWAYS inform an officer that there is a weapon on your person when you are pulled over.

FHB, that's not a poison pill in terms of passing the bill. The bill may still pass, however, no one in Chicago will be able to get a concealed carry because they're over their gang related arrest limits.

On another note, it's funny that they put wording in the bill related to gangs anyways. Gang bangers aren't going to bother going legit with their concealed carry's...

On a different subject...
Not defending the gang related arrest part, but lets remember, arrest is different than conviction
Do arrests stay on your record if you aren't convicted of a crime? That would be wrong IMAO.

True, however. my guess is if you've been arrested 3 times on a gang related charge, even if you've been exhonerated every time, you're probably in a gang. Smoke = fire....98% of the time.

Funny thing, I was going to qualify my statement with the "where there is smoke, there is usually a fire" statement as well, but didn't.

Missouri has your CCW marked on your licence and the Feds stole the info from the DMV, in direct violation of Mo.law! This is a good way for the gun grabbers in the Fed to get everyone's info.
Otherwise it's good to see the Ill. down staters getting some of their rights back.

Anything is possible if you don't know what you are talking about!

It's probably mostly true, however, I don't think that CCW permit holder means you're carrying or even own a gun. A CCW permit is certainly not proof of gun ownership.

But it's a pretty good indicator and the Feds will take that info and run with it. Personally, I think you're better off to buy guns second hand and keep 'em on the down low.
No help if you want to legally carry, but not everybody wants/needs to carry. I'd like to, but not sure if it's worth putting myself on their radar. Been on the fence about getting a CCW for years for that reason.

The dl issue isnt about identifying if you do have a weapon, its about the law presuming theres a weapon and making simple stops with no weapon present into a big ordeal of a search to prove what you said.
