That was a great show...
Anyway the 130x was great until the lipo said no more, before the timer sounded. Maybe it did. I dident hear it on the video or befor the crash.
Anyway the 130 sure is tough, and great fun..

it's funny about lipos, they loose full charge gradually to about 75 percent capacity then drop slowly for another 10 to 15 percent then hit the bottom and get puffed due to the remaining heat and other factors in the lithium polymer.

One thing notable is at around 2:45 the rpm starts to fade ever so slightly, that gave you less than 15 seconds to act. Sometimes we stubbornly push it on but your result is common. I bottomed out a lipo only yesterday and put a few spent batteries in my heli by accident only to drain them even more than normal, everyone knows the feeling.

As soon as you hear the rpm ever so slightly drop it's time to bring it down. If I'm correct those batteries are 3.4v 1s 400mah, 2.5 minutes is time on those. Beyond that and your harming the battery.

Nice little heli btw.

Stock batteries for the 130x are 300mAh, 7.4V. One of my batteries is better than the other and still has power at 5 minutes while the other runs out at 4:30, so I keep my timer at 4.

Not trying to hijack the thread, but one thing I rarely see talked about in all the battery threads I see,is re adjusting the flight time of a battery as it ages. It seems people set their timer for a battery when its brand new and never change anything till the battery dies.after 75 flights or so its good to do a capacity check on a battery and re adjust your flight time accordingly. It does increase the life of a battery

I adjust my flight time to about a half a minute less than my weakest battery. As my batteries age I keep adjusting if I notice that I lose power before the timer runs out. One thing I noticed though is that the voltage on my weakest battery is about 3.7V per cell when I start to charge it, but if I fly my strongest battery until I start to lose power it's at 3.5v per cell when I go to charge it. I assume that's because the internal voltage on the weakest battery is high enough to cause the volts to drop to 3.3v per cell while there's still enough charge to generate 3.7V when there's no load while my best battery has lower internal resistance requiring the power to drop to the point that it can only generate 3.5V with no load. I'm new to LiPos, so I'm still learning, but I figure this is a safe method.

What I would like to know is, does low voltage kill these batteries, or low charge? I mean, if they say that going below 2.8V kills these, does that mean that if I draw enough juice to get the battery to 2.7V, even though there's enough charge to generate a no load voltage of 3.7V will that kill tha battery?

from other battery topics it can be deduced that no less than 80 percent capacity loss or it's damaging the lipo in one way or another. The polymer might get damaged enough to no longer hold a charge very well. 3.4 per cell give or take 1 is common.

Funny how a 3s 11.1 charges to 12.6, will be 12.2 after the charging, expend current for 5 minutes and only loose 2 volts but the heli is not running off the 2 volts only depleting the battery of 2 of the 12 volts it stores.
