I was wondering if anyone is using the mini vbar with their NX4 and if they have any pictures of their build/setup? I'm trying to chase down a few issues and I'd like to see if vibrations are traveling through the wiring setup I have.

Andy -- if it's any consolation -- I finally got a second chance to get out and start the shakedown cruises on my NX4 from Christmas...

About three minutes into some hovering and checking out the 3GX governor setups, my motor suddenly began to overspeed way beyond the governed RPM. Landed, found that both magnets parted company with the plastic fan. No, they didn't just pop out, with the help of centrifugal force, they simply plowed their way horizontally through the plastic. I'll post you some pics when I get them!

Looks like it's time for a metal fan upgrade. Ideally, I'd like to find a way to use the Spektrum backplate sensor on a 37.

Now, back to your regularly scheduled thread...pics anyone?

How about posting pics of what you have for your installation?

This is how mine is wired up with the Gaui mini vbar.

Cheap upgrade for the fan is the metal Trex 600N. It's a direct fit and balanced better than the plastic Gaui one. Never had a problem with the plastic fan, but swapped over when I had the motor out for another issue.

Cheers,
Simon

When you mount your mini vbar, just make sure to have a little slack in the wires. Also it's important to use the metal plate that came with it. I found that Futaba 30x30 pads work fantastic above and below the metal plate!

I have never had a magnet/fan issue. What I did is CA the magnets in the fan and then smear a thin layer of medium CA over the top of the magnet and about 3mm onto the plastic.

Thx guys. Nice pictures I have been busy chasing DDOS attackers away at the office and have been working long nights I pretty much have most things squared away at work and I will take some pictures tonight. Due to my crash my fan got damaged and I did replace it with the metal part. I made sure to put a thin layer of epoxy over the magnets which I learned from the free Smacktalk NX4 video I am using the metal plate or I should say I have tried every combination of plate/tape setup.

Rad -- nice clean install. That power cable sure looks like a good candidate for being accidentally yanked out, however. Would hate to see that happen.

Not a Mini V-bar, but rather, a 3GX install:

3GX -- so far, so good. Only have had a chance to get a couple of short flights due to weather and mechanical problems...but it's behaved quite well.

Had it out yesterday hoping to get a chance to actually do some FFF and other thrilling stuff, only to have this happen to my fan:

The heli was stable, no bad wagging or wobbling habits, the governor was working really well until the magnets parted company.

I have a Trex 600 aluminum fan on its way (drop in replacement), should be able to get more time on it mid to late next week.
