I know this has been asked before but what would be considered a high ESC temperature? I mean whats normal or does it depend on brand?

I try to keep mine under 160-170 peak temps. No real reason for that number, but I have had some others fail on me when I went over the 200 mark so I try to stay as low as possible. Some of my helis run pretty low temps, the bigger helis seem to run a bit hotter.

tglao,

Hope I am not hijacking your thread, but I just got my Rush 750(700) up and going.

I also was wondering if my temps were high or normal.

Ambient temp was 80F
I was getting 105F on my CC Edge 160HV.
Scorpion 4525 Ultimate 520kv temp was 160F

Edge 713 blades, 13 degree pitch.

I thought my motor temp was high at 160F, but am happy with the ESC temp.

The reason I ask is I just added telemetry to two of my machines. My 700 with a CCHV120 never goes over 95-96 degrees but I have a 550 with a Talon 90 that runs about 106-107. But i guess that's not to bad...

My 700E hit 220 (internal according to the Castle log) but temped at 154 external. I currently have the CC 120 but have the new 160 Edge on its way. I don't like pushing the envelope!!

I have to say 220 is an impressive temp. With a steady diet of 220, how long will a ESC last?

Prob not very long, hence why I have the 160 ordered!! LOL!!

I've been taking it really easily lately and she's been coming down at around 191 internal.

I just check Edge 160HV internal temp log and it had max temp at 129F with 110F the average for 4 flights.

Unplugging plugging the ESC 3 wire connector from the CGY750 is getting to be a pain. Has anyone set up a Y-connector for checking log and changing settings?

I don't have a Y connector but I do use a 2" extension as to not wear out the pins on the receiver. That has worked well for me.

I used a y connector on my 550 for checking the log and it works great. I have a small male to male connector coming from the other part of the y plug. I check my logs and make any changes through this lead without unplugging any connections to the ESC itself.
