Trying to help a friend get his machine working.

His setup is:

-Goblin 770
-KDE 700XF-495
-Kosmik 160HV
-V-Bar Silverline
-Torq servos
-Torq Tail servo
-JR 11X

The issue is getting the kosmik to initialize. With the above setup, V-Bar file setup like any other machine he's done, the Kosmik will turn on, and give the Green LED1 and LED 2 will blink red 3 times.

My friend initially tried to set it up, and could not get it to work. Based on the error code he was getting, he thought he had a bad Kosmik. He returned it to HeliDirect, and they gave him a new one as a replacement.

At this point, I spent some time trying to get it to work.

-Fresh V-Bar file
-Fresh 11X Model
-Resoldering all motor and ESC connections
-Reversing throttle direction, verifying throttle signal output from V-Bar was at -100, various endpoint/throttle curve/throttle trim and other adjustments to ensure kosmik was seeing low throttle.

I went and setup a spare receiver I have on my 14SGH, and plugged the kosmik in. It initialized, and I was able to enter the programming mode (WITHOUT V-BAR plugged in)

My buddy went and bought a 14SGH, and we set up his V-Bar file on his machine. However, it appears that as long as the S-Bus lead is connected to the V-Bar (With Kosmik plugged into receiver), the kosmik will not initialize. Unplug the S-Bus lead, and it will initialize.

Plugging the Kosmik into the ESC/Throttle slot on the V-Bar does not work, it will not initialize.

S-Bus channel mapping has been verified many times. We've tried reassigning the ESC/Throttle in the V-Bar to an unused channel, and left the Kosmik plugged in channel 3 On receiver (Default Futaba Throttle channel) to "disconnect" the channel from the V-Bar to no avail.

Powering the v-bar directly with a LiPo and allowing it to boot up, followed by plugging in the kosmik (with red lead disconnected) does not work either.

With my spare CGY-750 plugged into the receiver, the Kosmik booted up just fine.

He swapped V-Bar cases, to no avail.

Everything we've looked at seems to be pointing to the V-Bar. I've exhausted just about every option I can think of.

Any help would be appreciated!

Fredrik,

I may need your input on this one. The last pm that the op and I exchanged on Facebook showed the Kosmik acting like it had bricked with three res led's and failure to boot, but none of this happened until after he tried to get the esc to work with the VBar.

A suggestion, try increasing the throttle end points. Maybe the ESC is not at idle with the stick a the low-point.

Tried that. No go.

We did find the software was V 3.2

Just updated it to 4.0.

The ESC had two solid green LEDs, but no initialization tone and it would not enter mode programming.

Plugged in Prog disc and reset the ESC. Now we are just getting a blinking red LED1.

If I manually set the full throttle and low throttle stick positions with the Prog disc, I am able to get two solid green LED's.
