Hi guys. Sorry a bit of thread drift but could you guys have a look at my question here:

https://rc.runryder.com/t755815p1/

I had a power system failure and have become quite nervous about my 800 size gasser. I don't want to mention the brand of regulator that may have failed as I am receiving good support and it is yet to be tested.

JR TAGS01, 3x MPH83SWV, 1x MPH83GWV and a DS8355.

I have a JR REG015 15-25Amp regulator. It converts 2s LiPo to 5.0v.

I have not heard of this servos I ran 2s lipos direct to avoid any current issues on bigger Helis (700XXtreme and 800XXtreme)
Did you try a bench test with a voltmeter?

Hi laughingstill

The servos are JR hall sensor servos. Here are the links :

and

http://jrpropo.co.jp/english/produc...&db_flg=eng_db1

The JR regulator seems pretty happy on the bench. The other brand unit I had just switched off in flight on about its tenth flight. I fly sport/scale style.

I thought I would ask the XXTREME 800 forum because I know you guys would handle this type of setup all the time. I have a post in another section that is more specific.

I was looking at those the other day also.

I managed to find a set of used 8917's.

But I did read on a post at helifreak that kyle is running these servo's in a logo XXtreme.

Might send dave a pm and ask how they rate with power consumption.

I think the servos are a recent addition to the jr linup , and on another post discussing bec's dave mentioned that kyle has gone to 2s lipo's for all his heli's but one old machine.

Given jr's past history with servo's ( 8917 , 8717 , 8717hv etc ) I'd be cautious with a bec and recommend a 2s lipo rx pack.

If your sporting a kosmic bec , the 200 with a 2s450 lipo backup/buffer would be a good setup.

Hope this helps some , don't know much about them , do look cool though and with the reduced height spec would fit nicely into a goblin heli.

What Nelvick was told was nothing but a radio manufacturer covering their butt. Align servos are Savox. Savox are the most amp hungry servos made behind Graupner's new ones. They DRAW BIG Amps. Period. Test have been done. PERIOD. JR 8917HV's are middle of the road. I am not a Futaba fan at all, but Futaba and MKS are the best made at lower amp draw. I love MKS servos.

I've been using WR super BEC Pro 15A 20A peak since it came out , and now , the Super BEC Pro 16A continuous 22A peak without any incident!

I guess I'm a BEC guy too!

I have my Logo 800 with a simple setup. Why, because at the beginning i was using a WR BEC and failed making my two satellite receivers blink and lose the signal for a second and then reconnected blinking.

I am using futaba bls157HV and BLS256HV servos. I decide call Dino Spadacini from Team Futaba and Team Align to explain to him my problem and he say "stay away from BECs when you are using HV servos" "HV Servos does not like BEC"
This is the same setup that I have been running for 3 years now, just a double HD setup to the Vbar from a 2200 mah 2s lipo.

However your statement regarding sat blink, makes me wonder about what encoding scheme are you running on your radio. Are you running DSM2 or DSMX? As far as I know the DSMX sats don't blink in the event of a brownout and reconnect, but the DSM2s do.

I just had a long talk with Spektrum regarding DSM2 earlier in the week. They have completely stopped making high end receivers with that encoding. Their tech said that DSM2 sats were still available, but no receivers.

I still don't understand why people trust BEC's on such high input voltage and high current draw servos.

Kinda unrelated, but a few weeks ago I had a solder on an ec5 come un-soldered while in flight. Had I been running a BEC I would not have been able to safely land like I did. Crazy thing is the heli had over 50 flights on it before the solder joint "let go".

I am so paranoid, I run all of my 700+ size heli's on 2x 2s lipos- DIRECT in parallel.
