X50+ CGY750 problem
Ive built a new heli with the OS-55HZR, Hitec 7966's all around and CGY-750+BLS-251. After setting up the heli with the gyro and getting it in the air for the 1st time I noticed pitch was not enough although I'd set it up as follows:

Normal mode:
Zero throttle/collective- -6degs
50% throttle/collective - 2.5degs
Full throttle/collective- 11.5 degs

Since then I've reset the pitch and throttle curves 6 times but pitch seems to vary in-flight. The heli mostly refuses to take offeven on full throttle. Every time i reset the pitch the 1st half of the 1st flight is ok, then onwards the pitch seems to reduce or something happens and the heli even at full throttle refuses to take off.

What could be the reason? FYI, its my 1st FBL setup. I've been flying flybar setups for many years without problems.

I recommend you redo your pitch settings with even pitch at high/low like ±11.5° and 0° at center. FBL systems don't like asymmetrical pitch setups like some use on flybarred machines for Normal flight mode.

Rex is right, in addition take out any mixing in the radio let the FBL system handle it, also either use expo in radio or in the CGY, not both.

my setup is as follows:

Normal mode:
Zero throttle/collective- -6degs
50% throttle/collective - 2.5degs
Full throttle/collective- +11.5 degs

ST1:
Zero throttle/collective- -11.5degs
50% throttle/collective - 0degs
Full throttle/collective- +11.5 degs

Do i need to setup up all point limits in the CGY unit in both modes individually?

Secondly, my servos are hitec 7966's all around. Anyone knows what frequency(hz) are they rated for? could it be that I'm running them at 720hz when they are actually not rated as such?

RcFreek, you don't setup a FBL system like a flybarred heli. Start by returning all values in your TX to default. Do NOT use Endpoints (ATV), Trim, Subtrim and Pitch Curves in the TX. All will be set in the CGY750. Review Basic Swash setup in the manual. Page 48 shows how to set maximum pitch rates for aileron, elevator and collective (pitch).

I reset the gyro gov+aileron+elev+swash+rud settings n made a new model in the heli and set it up frm scratch as per the manual and vid on the futaba website. I even re-did the mechanical setup. However, the pitch varies as per indicated problem. Could it be a prob with hitec 7966's freq nt setup properly in the swash settings on the cgy unit?

Any other possibilities?

Wouldn't be your servos. Provided you have reset your TX to defaults by using a fresh, new model (you didn't change any TX settings did you?), it's either a mechanical setup issue or incorrect settings in the CGY750. It is essential to have a mechanical setup with 0° pitch at mid collective and your servo arms and bellcranks to linkage at 90° when at 0° blade pitch.

Post some video of the problem on You-tube if you can. If that's not possible for you, take some clear pictures of your setup at low, mid and high collective stick, then post here on RR along with all your CGY750 parameters.

rexxigpilot, Thanks for the reply.I've reset ALL paramaters from the CGY unit and have made a brand new model in my 14SG. my swash is tilting backwards after having trimmed it in the CGY unit. this prob is alongwith the inconsistent pitch settings/variation.

I'll post pics soon.

You've proabably already disabled them but it sounds like the LD and RD knobs on the 14SG are not disabled? Two G-4's & X50's YS60SR,Futaba 18SZ/12Z/14FG, ,Rail Blades Rep

I'll check on the LD and RD knobs and tell u tonight.

Hv all of you out there setup this gyro on normal mode and then later switched to avcs on the elev, aileron and pitch or directly configured the CGY unit on AVCS mode directly?

Secondly, what gyro pad are you all using?

You should start in normal and get the mechanical setup correct, then shift to AVCS.

Use the pads that come with the CGY750.

Problem solved!!! I had not locked the elevator see-saw assembly with a hex bolt/pin so whenever I would set the pitch etc with heli static it would be as per manual but the moment It would spool up it would slip the shaft n pitch n elevator settings would vary.

Thanks anyway guys for the help!!
