xcell 1005 engine change!!
hello all.
i have a very nice xcell 105 and would like to put the new zenoah 260 in the place of the g23
Has any one done this ,the engine is a perfect fit as the cases are the same but what about the power difference and the shift in peak rpm from the moter,or would it be ok just to swap them over???

Ok yeah
Disregard my other post. Yes you can fit a G26 in there no problem. Just make sure than the g26 motor is balanced otherwise it will be a shaker in stock format.

realy, do you think the old 23 was a better engine,i hear it peaked later in the rpm so was better in that respect??? i say because i am going to build the engine ,so i can buy the head for one or the other???

The original G23 will fly it, but its the lowest power for the bunch (231, G26 or G29). It was the original setup, its pretty smooth in stock format as that is how the original G23 motor was built and designed from the ground up.

In the later versions of the G26 and G29, they put bigger top ends of them without redesigning the crank, hence why they shook more.

If you were looking for something to get it off the ground, the G23 will work. If you want more power, then get yourself a balanced motor of the larger variety and you can go to the ported versions if you also wish to get even more power out of the same motor.

many thanks for the reply,
i think i would be more inclined given our conversation to stay with the 23 i have another 105 with the shock motor ,and realy its 10 plus years old and has given me endless hours of flight with out a sighn of trouble and dead smooth. I i have a nice bottom end from a 260 ,but have no idea of its balance condition.and was just going to put new bearings and seals ect and then choose the head.
