Where to get a cheap 450 to build
I want to build a cheap 450 size electric heli. Something that I won't care too much about if I crash while trying new moves. I would hate to see my align 450 pro take a dive plus it is a pain to wrench on. This heli cought my eye:

http://www.xheli.com/60h-dy8918-b-r...i-24g-blue.html

but I don't need another transmitter. I would like something compatible with my futaba radio without having to get a receiver. I want to make this thing cheap. Cheap servos, cheap gyro, etc.

A friend has an older thunder tiger for sell that just needs a receiver and possibly a esc for $150, but I would still need a $100+ receiver + say $75 for an esc. It is an older mini Titan, not the new style mini titan, parts may not even be available for it anymore.

Any thoughts?

I wouldn't worry about mini Titan parts. The latest mini Titan kit, E325S is FBL. But, air frame is the original mini Titan.

I agree, parts for the mini Titan are still available after checking, but this is the original version. It looks like they are changing to the v2 type airframe. I looked up the price for a new esc for the mini titan and it lists for about $70. The parts for the e-razor are also cheaper and you get a full metal head. I don't think going super cheap is the answer, I would rather fix a heli because of dumbthumbs rather than constant failures that you can have with cheap.

I bought a used Align 450se FB and learned how to fly with it. I beat the crap out of it until I learned to fly, Each crash was about $30. and a few days waiting for the parts to arrive. Keep an eye out for something use that has some quality and fits your price range.
Don't forget the Sim is great for new moves!

Ive built 3 Hobby King clones, two 450's and one 500. All in all they are a good bird. The only thing I would buy aftermarket would be the bolts, screws, and links. Besides that the 450 hobby king clone is an awesome buy for under 50 bucks!*** Real Pilots BEAT the air into submission! ***
