At a location where model aircraft activities are prohibited.
Doesn't say field, doesn't say site, actually, doesn't describe any particular place.

The event was obviously approved by the school, in addition to the students in the audience, there were teachers. If the event was not approved by the school, there were no adults in attendance who put a stop to it.

I stand by my comments. I have been invited on many occasions by schools and other organizations to provide static and flying demos.

Try as you might, the activity was performed with the full knowledge and permission of the school.

-----

Our club recently held an indoor fly-in at a facility owned by the Cedar Rapids Titans, an indoor football team. The facility is used for their practice, as well as for basketball and indoor soccer leagues. I cannot just go inside and begin flying a model aircraft, it is not allowed.

However, we did obtain permission to use the site for a day, the event was sanctioned by the AMA, and the Titans have invited us back next January.

Permission sought, granted, and the site that usually does not allow model aircraft operations was opened to us and the public for an entire day.

These from you Mckrackin?
Taken out of context but yes.

Those were about flights that were traveling 80mph+ toward the crowd or the pits.Sometimes within a few feet.

This flight was nothing but climb outs and some fancy hovering.

No comparison.

And I CLEARLY suggested the crowd stay back 50 feet in those posts.
That was done in this video.

Keep digging...It's kinda sad though.

Guys this is good stuff, I love it. Next time I go to a heli fun fly I guess I should wear a football helmet or better yet stay in side a brick building and fly from open window. This is a great thread.

If that is what is driving you in this thread, it would be wise to stay away from any form or transportation, beware of undercooked chicken, hamburger, and eggs, stay away from ladders, electric tools, swimming pools, bathtubs, stairs, winter driving, alcohol, chainsaws, propane stoves -- most of the everyday things we use and never give a second thought. It would be best to stop all high school sports, disband the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. Ban schoolbuses, too. There have been a number of school kids killed when they were getting off and on the bus. There have been horrible accidents involving school buses where kids were maimed and killed. All of these everyday things have killed someone, young and old alike. Do you worry about them, too?

Nothing is ever 100% safe. Perhaps if you fly RC helicopters you should give it up, especially if there are kids at the flying site. Adequate precautions were taken, the demo was well received, and everyone went home with the same number of toes and fingers that they had when they arrived at school that morning.

well, not you per say, but the child you bring that does not have the mentality to understand the depth of safety and death maybe
They are about an actual dangerous situation
it's nice to see that you know where to draw the line
I know one when I see it
well, you have not proven that, so that remains to be seen

You're being irrational and arguing simply for the sake of arguing.

You win.

Maybe we NEED some laws involved.
You should call your congressman.

I know and we do.

This particular flight was done safely and within AMA guidelines.

Stop panicking over a kid flying.
That is your only problem whether you know it or not.

Some of the other posts are just petty envy.

This is NOT a dangerous situation...No more than the vast majority of every flight at every flying field known to man.

Way safer than fun fly flights because ALL EYES are on the ONLY heli in the air.

As I have also.

I have learned through my years of experience that this will indeed have an emotional affect on how you see things and how it influences your thoughts.

However, Ryan's video actually shows the positive side of life. A young child mentoring his classmates, teachers, and heli pilots alike.
